I'd argue the most important factor with shoes is how do they feel. I prefer Adidas myself. Some shoes, like Nike, are made too narrow for my feet and they hurt to walk in.

I recently bought a pair of Ecco's and Oakley's. The Ecco pair is by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever had. By the way, I paid $60 for each pair on Ebay and they retail for $160.

Since I don't buy shoes as often as other equipment and I'm picky about what's on my feet, I err on the side of better quality shoes. That doesn't always mean they have to be expensive but most of the time are.

I actually play better when the shoes are very light and thin like track shoes or dance shoes. I'm hoping someone comes out with a golf shoe made like that, no matter if it's low cost or expensive. I'd prefer not to use cleats unless they are absolutely needed because of wet or muddy turf.

For me it's all about comfort. I bought my last shoes around 9 years ago. So this year I wanted something as comfortable as my running shoes. I tried on everything Golfsmith had in my size. The best feeling shoe for me were the new TW Nikes. I wouldn't try them on until I had tried everything else in the store. Bottom line, I have no idea if the technology does anything at all for a high handicapper such as myself (or anyone else for that matter), but since I walk unless I'm playing a very hilly course I had to buy them. Let's hope they last as long as my old shoes. I never intended to buy this expensive of a shoe but they are extremely comfortable.

I'm getting a second pair of ReelFits today. They'll go nicely with my two pair of GF:II.

I believe very strongly in buying GOOD golf shoes.

I wear shoes out quick. I have two pairs of brown shoes that i use right now. A dry pair that are Eccos that are great, and a cheapo pair of brown footjoys that I wear when the course is going to be wet. Like this summer it have been cart path only for the last two months due to rain. So i have had to put a leather cleaner that i use on my boots to keep them in good shape. I have never bought a pair that are over $100. When i start getting more money ( only have internships right now Sr. in College) I will consider the possibility.

I have two pairs--one pair of mid grade Nikes and one pair of Footjoy contour series. I love the footjoys, they are so much more comfortable, the Nikes always hurt my foot behind the pinky two where the screw in spike is. I think anything that is comfortable when you put them on the first time and is waterproof is a shoe you should get. I don't see a shoe adding anything extra to swings.

I have been extremely satisfied with my Footjoy Contours. They are very comfortable, breath pretty well, and easy to clean (lots of muck on the courses around here after it rains)

    • Nothing is assured and lots of talented young athletes in many sports fail to achieve greatness. as was said, injuries, growth, lots of things can come into play, And let’s let honest, over the years a few players have been branded “The Next Tiger Woods” and yet there is only 1 Tiger Woods. My initial point was if he can do a great breakout it may capture the attention of a new generation.  Back in the 70s it was Secretariat in horse racing, we also had Jordan in basketball and let’s not forget Tiger for golf.  Stories get people interested and I think golf needs a new story. I will pull for him and hope it works out but there are so many factors that come into play you just do not know, But I can hope.
    • Day 114: 4/19/24 Chipping and putting practice. Tried a little hinge and hold with good results, which has never been the case during a real round. Playing tomorrow and eager to play.
    • I don't think I've found any of the Good Good stuff, or the guys that were once a part of it, very interesting.
    • Day 535, April 19, 2024 30 minutes in the middle of the day while doing errands and a bunch of other things. Behind. Behind.
    • Day 127 (19 Apr 24)  -  Played in the Friday Men's group today.  While I shoot 82, it was a pretty solid round with 10 pars, 5 bogies and 3 doubles.  I really hated the doubles - but each one was followed by a par come back, so "accepting" the number has really begun to pay off and not letting it get to me on the following hole in thinking "I have to get that stroke back".
