What I am saying is, if with your own eyes, on the course, at the time of it happening you can not perceive the movement, then that should be how it is determined.

I am against using high speed video cameras, zoomed in, played in slow motion, and as in Pavin's case, the ball may have moved literally +- a dimple, which the human eye couldn't even pick up, and then assessing a penalty based upon that.

We shouldn't be employing technology after the fact for such minute things which have no effect on any outcome.

Well said.  I totally agree.  Unless another player or rules official witnesses the situation and disagrees, one should rely on the human eye.

"Moving" under the law of physics, is not the same as "moving" according to the rules of golf.

I understand your point, the rule really should be that if your club touches the ball there would be a penalty.

And I do not understand why they left oscillation there, as it just makes it more complicated.

Add on question, and not meant to thread drift..

but say i'm walking towards my ball in a pine needle/branch infested area.. i'm 2 feet away but a rock or something moved, causing a cascade of movement, thus moving the ball.

no intent, just walking towards the ball.

is that a penalty?

Glad we rarely have pine to deal with in this area. Some large spruce, but this part of the province is dominated by hardwoods (Oak, maple, birch), the only softwood we have alot of is poplar, and since it grows in swamps, it is very unlikely to see any of them around a golf course.

We do have our problems with Maple seeds in the fall though, those helicopter blade looking things that fall from our massive amounts of hardwood in the area.

    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
    • Not sure this is the best thread but, if the rain holds off, today is my 1st round of the year.  Getting ready I can not find my Shot Scope.  I guess I put it away too well for the winter and thus that is may "Winter Depression".  I'm sure I put it somewhere that made sense at the time.
