You sound like an absolute joy to play with. Hackers, shmucks and mole diggers? Nice. ;-)

You'd have a ball pal! As long as you shut up and keep moving!

To b
My guess is that your "bud" will eventually find the wrong person to try to bully...As all bullies eventually do. Sometimes after just a little attitude adjustment they can turn into good people.
to be fair he can be embarrassing at times! And like I said, I sometimes have to reign him in, He's not a bully in general, just impatient, yet hes the first to play people through should anybody be quicker than us, so he works both ways! there's a time and a place to play people through, that time is early Saturday morning, and the place is the hole in front of us when you've teed off on the 10th as we've finished the 9th! It happened again tonight, just putted out to look up and see too absolute weapons of grass destruction tee off on the 10, we watched them and they were so slow we walked straight to the 14th, they should have waited! I would have!

You should be joining a club or at the very least paying to play first of the day. Nobody wants you behind them, and you don't want to be behind anyone.

No thanks. I prefer to golf with people who don't insult anyone who happens to be in front of them and who plays with a guy who feels the need to attempt to bully other golfers. I guess I'm just weird like that.

I have joined a club! And we do play first on a Saturday, Saturdays are a busy day which is why we're first out! It's our club that let's people tee off for the back 9 only! And as we reach the 10th hole we've started to find some clowns already there teeing off! I too have played the back 9 on weekdays when busy, but I never tee off if I see players approaching the 9th green! I wait till there's a clear run then go, and I think others should extend that courtesy.

Don't you socialize with these folks after the rounds? Seems like it could be a little awkward after hitting into them.

Na, don't have time to socialise after, I've got a baby and 2 small children at home, thats the main reason why I tee off so early, so I'm usually back home before they realise I've gone! Don't get to see them much in the week because of work, so I don't wanna spend my saturdays stood behind some morons reading a green for 10 minutes on a 2 foot putt! Or some other clown taking 2 practise swings before every shot ..then slicing it! Or some bell end searching in the trees or knee deep rough for 5 mins for a 50cent lake ball! Or talking on ya phone when ya should be taking a shot! Or leaving ya bag 50yrds from ya ball then walking back to get it! These at just some of the things that quite frankly annoy the hell out of me! Of course all these things are fine if your learning and you have the time to do it! But not when you butt in the middle of someone elses game!

Then take the PGA's new promotion to heart and "Just play 9". Seems like you should be able to get done and home in an hour or less. Then you won't get all skeeved over other people actually enjoying themselves.

He only socialized with them if they shut up and move. ;-). Just sounds like a troll to me, looking for a reaction.

Jeez jetsnicks! Your a sensitive soul, some of my posts are said only in jest, my only point was that some people DO suck at golf! As once did I! And that those that suck at golf shouldn't butt in the middle of a persons game and ruin the flow of pace! As I never once did! I'm guessing I've hit a nerve, and I apologise if I've offended you, im not against people having fun on the course, im all for that as long it doesnt ruin other peoples fun! but if you read the second half of my last post properly, would you not think these are valid reasons to be annoyed????

I'd have an easier time believing half your posts are in jest, if they weren't all the same. You and I have very similar HCs and I find it hard to believe that at an 18 you're not slicing or hooking off the tee sometimes or that you don't hit balls OB or end up in the woods or rough looking for your ball. Maybe to the group of low HCers behind you, you're the moron, grass killer, mole digger or shmuck. Just a thought.

Unless you can show me that you paid more to be on the course than I did I would advise you keep your politics to yourself.

That being said we always try to let faster players by us.  But sometimes the place is full and you just gotta wait.

I don't think I would consider looking for a ball for three minutes too over the top?

Funny but I think every time I have seen someone make as a$$ of themselves on a golf course they where playing alone ?

Well you'd be wrong on all counts I'm afraid! It's my short game that lets me down, I have no problem getting to the green quickly, driving is the strongest part of my game, i rarely slice, hook or lose a ball of the tee, but hey, so what! I can only presume your a culprit of the afore mentioned poor etiquette with no consideration for others, and on that I bid you farewell, move on please!

Private clubs almost always have somebody monitoring that, and stopping it after a certain amount of time. They might let 2-3 groups start on #10 in the morning, but never enough groups so the guys who went off #1 can catch them.

Alas! Somebody who reads posts properly before choosing to reply with nonsense from a high horse! Unfortunately my club, which is relatively new, don't operate this way and I shall be casually mentioning it this wkend! That makes perfect sense!

Best way to tell someone they're a bad golfer: "Hey bud let's play $20 a hole, I'll give you 2 strokes on each."

And you promptly lose $360 because you THINK he's a bad golfer and your game decides to stay in the clubhouse.

First off, I would like to say hello to everyone. I am a newbie to this site.

I play public courses and they usually have a starter/ranger, especially on the weekends, who makes sure that no one is starting on the back when there are groups finishing or close to finishing the front. If the course doesn't have someone monitoring this, I will ask in the clubhouse if it is okay to start on the back so I don't jump in front of another group.

I am baffled why people feel the need to call other golfers names like moledigger or feel the need to tell other people they are bad at golf or whatever else makes them feel better about themselves. Everybody goes through these growing pains.

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆
