You don't remember John Elway?

Hey...isn't he that guy that dropped Time Tebow and got Peyton Manning to play for the Broncos? JK. I'm not that young.

He may be a big part of Broncos history, but he wasn't quite playing yet in '73 and '74. The first "name" quarterback was Craig Morton.  Otis Armstrong, Rick Upchurch, Haven Moses, Riley Odoms, Jon Keyworth, Randy Gradishar, Tom Jackson, Billy Thompson, Karl Mecklenburg, Lyle Alzado... see I can rattle off a few more from before the Elway glory years. :smartass:

Lyle Alzado was a Raider too!  Did you hate him when he was playing with them. ;-)

Reminds me of when I met Brad Park, the HoF Hockey player.  He said the best compliment he ever got was a Bruin's fan who said, "When you were with the Rangers, I hated your guts.  Now I love ya."

By the time he left Denver, Alzado was about done anyway.  He was 'roided out.   I had no feelings one way or the other.

Amen.  Any team that is self styled as "America's Team" or any other such appellation that indicates that I'm supposed to be behind them no matter what is an affront to my personal fanaticism.  I'm a "fan" of 2 teams.  They happen to to be the home teams of places I've lived.  Even though I was born and raised in Minnesota, the Vikings are my second team.  The Broncos will be my team until I die.

I moved to Denver in 1973, when the Broncos were only 4 years in the league.  Quarterback was Charlie Johnson and the halfback was Floyd Little - those are the only names I remember - maybe the only ones worth remembering from those days.  I suffered through 4 dreadful Super Bowl losses, a couple of them when it didn't even seem that we belonged in the league, much less in the game.  One of those losses was to the Cowboys.  I will hate them for as long as I root for the Broncos.

Despite that, the Oakland Raiders will always #1 on my hit list.  They are just so easy to dislike.

I would want to forget those ten years in the AFL also if I were a Bronco fan. But I would say  to your chagrin the hated raiders are going to  get out of this rut sooner than later the way I see it. RM is the complete opposite of Al Davis the team has had to operate at abut a 60% salary in order to undo the mess the old man made plus get rid of the underachieving overpaid. Even though they are finally free of the mess  next year and have 50million plus to spend on FA's I see Reggie using all that cash  for depth mainly and maybe 2 marquee players. The raiders are going to be a good team in the next 2-3 years.

I'd be okay with that.

Is "hockey" a sports team?

Tiger probably disagrees.

    • Day 113: 4/18/24 Stack training progress check after finishing my 6th program, and 4th Full Speed Spectrum Training session, which is recommended for my next program.     Gained 1 mph with driver, 195 g, 95g. Maintained with 280 g , and gained 2 with 145 g. Lost 1 mph on both lead and trail arm. Felt like I lost distance in my last round…
    • Please forgive the sweaty shirt.  Just got off the treadmill and decided to do my Evolvr drill.
    • I'd agree that 4w seems like the right play here. I'm not a course designer or anything but that hole looks like it could be so much more fun if everyone played from those front 2 tee boxes that are right outside your shot cone and they cut down most of the trees down that left side of the fairway. That would give risk reward to long hitters who want to try and push it up to that left fairway, allow more players to reach that second fairway, and still allowing it to be perfectly playable for someone who only hits driver like 150yds off the tee.   Yeah it looks like 4iron aimed at that inside edge of the right bunker is the play there, especially if you don't expect a 20mph tailwind again. If it is down wind again, 5iron would be just fine too, it'd still get you inside 150yds for your approach.  Keep in mind tee marker locations too, you measured that one from the back so if those tee markers are moved all the way towards the front of that box then 5 iron is probably best just to be sure that right bunker is never in play.
    • Day 1: worked on my drill for my arms.
    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
