Cost of a Round In Your Location?

I am curious.  What does an average course charge in your area for a round of golf?  What do you get for that normal round?

In Chicago, I would consider White Pines to be an average golf course.  With a cart for a Saturday morning is $63.  A goat track by my house charges $25 for 18 holes with a cart (mon - fri) if you tee off before 8am.  This is a STEAL in the area, the normal weekday rate is $39.

So I would say in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, a normal round of golf during the week is $40 to $50 with a weekend round be $60 ~ $80 a round.

For those of you that mostly play at country clubs, tell us what the course charges a guest for a round and mention that it's a country club (so we have a frame of reference)

Every single course in my area is a top of the line Golf Club (Hazeltine is the closest) that my poor soul will likely never be able to step foot on.

If I drive 25-30 miles I can play a crazy little 9 hole course that's just $10 after 6:30 p.m. :D

i got a 6 day membership at a local 9 that plays 18 with alternate tees for $450.00 for the year. thats roughly 37 dollars a month and 1.25 a day. play two rounds a day everyday its like 62 cents a round. its a fun little casual place.

the 18 literally across the road from mine costs anywhere from 12 dollars for twilight and up to 32 during normal times.

then we have another 18 hole, 5774 meter Par 70 about a five minute drive from the other two that is 22 dollars visitors during the midweek. I know a 5 day membership is 595.00. i forget what full membership price is, i it also has reciprocal rights to 13 other course. i may get a 5 day membership next year.

Average is about $50.  Some are much more than that but at most of the public courses, 18 holes with a cart is about $50.  I routinetly walk and play 9 holes and even on the weekends its never more than $15.

We have 3 public courses on one island, partially govt owned so govt sets some provisions. This in a city of 7,000,000. There are no other golf options here, except go very expensively private. Cost on this public course US$100, give or take a few bucks on the weekend or holidays. We pay only for the time not the number of holes played. Thus, 4 hrs 18 minutes and if  you finish the round, fine. If not finished, then the course official can chase  you off. Since govt ID must be shown at sign-in, any complaints or misbehavior will be punished as the govt always knows who  you are. There is no merit in moaning, just earn more money if you want golf, here.

Dependant on where i want to play it can range from £5 - £50

But the vast majority of courses are around £15.

But i love 2-FORE-1, me and my mate play half price!

I'm in southeast MA, so it can vary widely - head towards Newport RI or Cape Cod, and the prices shoot up.

The 9 hole that's 2 minutes from me offers alternate tees and $25 all you can play w/cart after 3pm. Another course about 20 mins away is 18 and offers the same twilight deal for $35. Most courses around here fit in between there, I'd say average cost for 18 is around $30, add another $10 if you want a cart. But most places around here are decent enough to walk.

My friend's father was a country club guy until his brothers started playing in their 50's. He joined the local muni so he could play with them, $1000/yr for membership, all you can play any time with cart. Not a bad deal around here at all.

For north of Boston it is more in the $40 to 50 range.  There are some nice public courses that are more Stowe Acres, Red Tail, but the average is in the 40 - 50 range without cart.  My home town 9 hole has a membership around $825 and $325 or juniors.  We gave my son a junior membership for his graduation present.

I'm a member at a private club - guest fees are all over the place. For years on the board, I had fought to keep guest fees higher.

Right now our guest fees are $55 weekend mornings and $45 weekdays and weekend afternoons (they ran a special for august at $29/round and the course is now overbooked on the weekends) - they will go up $10 for the winter. If they enforced the rules that guests can only play once a month and no more than 6 times a year I would have less of a problem with this.

Fees used to be $75/$65, my frustration was that my rounds technically cost me more than $100/round when I could only play once a week - now that I am getting out pretty much twice a week, that average has gone down.

Our dues for a full member are $360/month with a $21 cart fee, those with private carts pay a trail fee around $160/month if they do not store their cart at the course (we just get nickeled and dimed on all the smaller stuff - handicap fees,service charges, etc.) However, it makes no sense for us to buy our equipment anywhere other than the club - we pay 10% over cost for everything (plus shipping on special orders) - basically that $399 driver usually costs us around $320.

Really varies by season down here.

Right now, in the "off" season, there's a lot of quality golf to be had at a pretty nice discount.  $20-$40 even on the weekend for some very nice courses.  Twilight during the week can get you down to $10.   Some of these same courses will be $60-$100+ come November....

Most courses offer some FL resident discounts though, so even during the winter months I can usually play some very good courses for under $40-$50 on the weekends though.

Typical range in Ohio is about $25 to $55 dollars. Usually special rates are like $35 dollars with a cart, but your usually looking at $45-$55 dollars with a cart.

In the Detroit Metro area, we have dozens of fine public and muni courses along with higher end public courses. My local muni, which plays 6400 yards from the tips and is in very good condition is $30.00 to walk on the weekend. This is typical around here. The higher end courses go from $50.00 to $85.00 on weekends.

This is pretty accurate even for my neck of the woods except that max it costs here for 18 and a cart is 35 cheapest is 25, unless you book online and grab a discounted tee-time. Cheapest I've seen a discounted tee time was 17.20 for 18 w/cart, but that was at like 10:30 am on a weekday.

I live just a little north of Philadelphia and, for the most part, weekend fees range anywhere between $45-$65 for a round. There are also a few higher-end semi-private courses that run in the $80-$100 range. I'm just getting back into playing again after a 15 year layoff so I haven't had a chance to get out to as many courses as I would like so far but my general sense is that in our area you really do get what you pay for in terms of course quality and condition. There are also a number of exceptional private clubs in our area that I've been fortunate to play through work functions, but have never inquired about membership dues, etc. The course I frequent the most is a fairly decent semi-private course within walking distance of my house. I'm not a member (I believe membership runs $2,700/yr.) but they open it up for public play after noon and charge $60 for a weekend round and $45 after 2:00p. The other course I usually play is about 20-30 minutes north of me and I believe its a municipal course (at least it was when it first opened many moons ago) and charges $65 a round and $45 for a twilight round. Seems like a lot for a muni, but its always packed.

Here in the DFW, the average price with no discounts or anything like that is usually about $45-60.  I myself utilize GolfNow and other tools to knock the price down. With so many options (for instance within a 10 mi radius of my house, there are at least 8 different public tracks), joining a private club probably won't cross my mind anytime soon.

thank you everybody for responding.  It is really interesting to see what the prices are like.  However, most of you don't have a location in your profile, or you didn't give an area where you live in your post.

If you prefer not to mention what part of the country you live in, that is totally fine.

I play local municipals in the Northern VA area. I bought two sets of pre-paid cards, one from "NoVA Regional Parks" and one from "Fairfax County Park Authority." Both are weekday only, and average approximately $30/round walking. If I were to pay each separately, it would be closer to $40 (walking). If I were to scour GolfNow, I could find sporadic better deals but they usually have carts. I've seen mid-day weekday rounds as low as $30 (with cart). But I like walking, and those deals are hard to plan for. I like to book online a few days ahead.
