I sweat like crazy. My most recent range trip, 4 large buckets, was in the 100 degree heat index of Texas... drenched by the time I was done... never a cotton shirt again. I picked up a few of the clima-cool type shirts at my local thrift store. You'd be amazed at the price discount on barely worn golf shirts. Will probably order a rain glove, heard nothing but good things as far as gloves go.

I'm in Houston and grip/humidity is also a problem for me.  I recently switched to Lambkin full cords on my irons and now the grips are on all my clubs.  The grip is much better.  To retain the grip and tackiness of your grips get a toothbrush hot water and dish soap.  Scrub the grips and let them air dry then pat them down with a clean towel.  The soap removes the oil that your hands and sweat leave, letting the grips become clean and tacky again.

I have also heard people mention the FJ rain gloves that come in a 2 pack and I have seen more than a couple people use them during this summer in TX.  They are supposed to be able to grip a soaking wet golf club.

I live in south carolina where it reaches 100 degrees and the humidity adds atleast 10. When I golf or practice i sweat completely through my pants which is embarrasing but also my hands sweat and i feel like im going to throw the club. I wipe of my hands alot, usually cycle through 2 gloves in a round/practice session, play multi compound grips or lampkin cord...i still feel ill slip.

i think that im going to get 2 more gloves to cycle through because if i play after a few hours on the range they are soaked. Does anyone have any idea? I dont really wanna get chalk but if I have to I will. I also clean my grips once a month.

Thanks in advance

I have your issues as well.

As others have posted dri-fit, clima cool, moisture wicking clothing helps. Rotating gloves, damp & dry towel for hands.

Also, for me this is a big improvement over cotton underwear .

I do wear underwear like that. I have some hand stuff but it seems to go away after 2 swings. Guys, I'm here in Houston and sweat like a pig! One guy mention he hit 4 large buckets on the range and went through 2 gloves??? Get real, I' through a glove in 5 minutes! Rain gloves are the ONLY way to go. I get called "Tommy Two Gloves" more often than anything. One pair of rain gloves is worth 6 gloves during a round and you don't even have to take them off unless it bothers you putting. The wetter they are the firmer the grip Not sure why more people don't use them? Maybe it doesn't look cool??

Some of them don't breathe well and are hot ... but the footjoys work.

I went through 4 large buckets with only the one regular glove... It was pretty sweaty also. Brand spanking new grips, clubs too... my right hand was more the issue... used the towel quite a bit... actually left the glove there in my heat exhausted state, lol.

Heat exhaustion is nothing to play around with. We have had some rather unusual weather for our area the past few days and many are not used to it. The humidity factory was/is extraordinarily high. I was working outside very early this morning and could only stand it for no more than ten minutes at a time.   As for gloves, I have never tried "rain gloves", but believe it or not, I found a pair of cheap gloves with a rubberized coating on the palm side at the 99c store. I like them because they are easy to slip off. They  also, are a bit hot though as Mr. Desmond alluded. They will last a very long time. Many would say they don't have enough "feel", but it really does not bother me. I don't know the brand name, they are black with a big XL on the top.

There are a few things that work for me. For the glove, I take it off after each shot and put it on my alignment rods (stuff a finger on the rod) which allows it to air out as opposed to putting it in my back pocket. For the grips I do try to wipe them down before each shot. I have a towel with a slot in the middle of it, and I wet down one side and place it over my bag (stick the alignment rods through the slot so it doesn't fall off) and have he wet side on the opposite side of the bag as me. Use the wet half to wipe, then just dry with the dry side.

I live in Kansas City where it can get steamy hot in the summer too. I do a lot of the things you do....rotating gloves, etc, etc..  just be sure to remove the glove immediately after every shot!! A CLEAN dry towel is a must.

When I was a walker.....I'd carry a rosin bag.  That is my advice to you........try it.   I'd buy a rosin bag at Dicks Sporting goods meant for baseball....and use it on the golf course.

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood
- Callaway Razr Fit 5-wood
- Callaway Big Bertha 4-5 Rescue Clubs
-- Mizuno Mx-25 six iron-gap wedge
- Mizuno Mp-T4 56degree SW
- Mizuno Mp-T11 60degree SW
- Putter- Ping Cadence Ketsch

    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
