would be nicer to have more females around though than what's there typically

Be careful what you wish for. All the ladies that show up at the range I go to are always constantly laughing and talking loudly, as if they don't care or notice that people are actually trying to practice seriously and aren't there to just socialize. It gets irritating. Noise isn't something that throws me off too much as long as it's constant and not too loud. But come on, have a little common courtesy.

Smokers. Hate them. Sorry, but watery and stinging eyes aren't ideal. Not to mention second hand smoke. Even outdoors. Smoking is prohibited at one of the ranges I use, several containers of butts are set in front of the ball dispenser machines, but people still occasionally light up. I give them a seriously dirty dirty look.

Off topic - I am constantly picking up butts in front of my parents' house. Her neighbors constantly drop butts and cigarette boxes in front of our sidewalk. A$$hole. There, that felt better.

Funny how the details on the sign is in Korean, and no other language.

Personally i think smoking should be banned everywhere except at a private property owner's decision. Its like some sort of messed up karma that second hand smoke is worse for you than actually smoking.

What about Miguel Ángel Jiménez? I thought cigars were a fixture at golf courses?

Personally, I don't mind the faint odor of cigars on the course, but I guess can see it being a distraction at the range.

He would be on a privately owned golf course most of the time.

I had a similar experience one of the few times I went to the range this past year. Here I was, finally grooving about 3 out of 5 drives relatively straight, sometimes up to the 250 sign on a bounce or 2. Sometimes. Lo and behold, here comes a flat bellied teenager, who sets up right next to me on the right, so I was looking at his back. He pulls out his driver, sets up, and wales away. Backswing like John Daly, almost touching his knee with the club head. Mighty swing- getting up on his toes. WHACK. Straight down the middle and into the net at the end of the range. Never makes a sound. Not a huff of breath, a grunt, or anything. One after the other. Like a driving robot. I had to put the driver up and get out my Utility wedge and start aiming at the 100 yard sign. And I said aiming, not hitting.

Stuff like that really pisses me off.

Smoking cigars or cigarettes on the course I don't mind because you can't tell, you don't get the smoke. It's open, you're moving around, you can escape it. The part I mind about it is it slows down play, a tad, depending on the player.

At a range, you're fixed in one spot and there may be infrastructure keeping the smoke around or worse, the wind blowing it right to you.

Steve

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Not sure I follow you. He pisses you off because he's good and practices??? You have to recognize that nobody else cares how good you are at the range. If you stop practicing your driver just because there's somebody nearby better than you then how in the heck are you going to improve?? Lighten up and don't be so insecure. ;)

It's a HUGE fire hazard in dry weather.   That's probably the main reason why it's banned in some places, not because the courses care about second hand smoking in open air.

New York must have huge continence of Korean Americans.   It's not only them.  Chinese, Philippinos, Indians light up as well (here in Bay Area).   Having just lost my little brother to cancer (smoking being the main culprit), for their sake, they need to suck on something else than cigarette butts.

Not sure if I've ever noticed that Koreans (specifically Koreans in NY) have considerably better bladder control than any other race, but I'll take your word for it. ;)

I prefer continence myself. :-D Yes, smoking is a big problem in Asia.

Oh, sorry. That's not necessarily true though. Just because I didn't get it, doesn't mean it wasn't funny to others. :)

It was funny to me too, but I didn't really know if he was kidding or not.

Now I do, :-P .

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

Did he do any of these things? • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
