Id chalk this up as, "who cares?"  Gulbis isnt all that pretty anyways and whens the last time she won a golf tournament?  Its time for her to go away, be a housewife and pop out a few kids.

The old adage, if you can't say something nice...well you know the rest. I think some guys would disagree  with you re: her looks. As far as her not winning, she gets to do what she loves for a living, and makes a decent wage, I would bet... ;-)

Natalie missed some of the first half of the season with, of all things, a case of Malaria. She wound up #63 on the money list with $188,000.

Not a lot compared to what the men bring in, but not that bad either.

Then add some sponsorship money as well...

If Natalie continues having "sub-par" seasons like this last one...her and her husband might just go broke.

Wouldn't it be nice if your wife made $200,000+ per year? I'd gladly be the "housewife" for her.

Even though Gulbis's better playing days are behind her she's still a huge fan favorite and likely in the top 5 requested pros in the pro-ams.

Her bread is buttered outside the ropes. She has many sponsors.

I'd bet she makes at least $1M/yr in endorsements...but I think it maybe closer to $2M/yr.

Even if she retires in 2 years, I've got to believe some of her sponsors will retain her on a lower monetary level.

Obviously you do. Afterall, you went through the trouble of finding and posting in a thread about it. Oh, the irony.

On a separate note, I hope Natalie knows what she's doing. This guy admitted that his powerbands were basically a placebo, the company had to declare bankruptcy and he lost it as a result. Plus, from what I understand he never played a single down as Yale quarterback. Hope Nat got an ironclad prenup.

My Tools of Ignorance:

Ball: Bridgestone B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star

Bag: Nike Performance Carry

I'm sure Gulbis has a pretty solid pre-nupt and I think Josh stashed some money away even though his company went bankrupt.

I'm sure Josh is a good 'salesman' but I think Gulbis would be cautious of any guy considering her net worth.

I met Josh in August at the Safeway event and spoke with him a few times. He was humble, sincere and engaging....he could have easily just brushed me off.....but he treated other spectators in the same enthusiastic fashion.

The guy even remember my name on Sunday morning....it was he who asked my name...not vs versa when we 1st chatted....I maybe watch Gulbis for 1 or 2 holes maximum per day.

Excellent point. I think her endorsement dollars far exceed her LPGA earnings.

She has had back issues in the past as well.  She played some decent tournaments this year.  If she can stay healthy, I think she will rally.

A hunch on her personality traits and handlers over the years.

Or you just pulled that out of a hat?

Looks wise parts of Natalie appeal to me but all put together it just doesn't seem to work for me, at least when she is golf attire. She looks pretty here but the pics are a little fuzzy. Truth though, my opinion doesn't mean shit and I am allergic to marriage so I rarely can agree to signing papers releasing rights to a government entity to make decisions for you. Marriage is just another way for the gubment to dictate your life.... why else would it afford you tax write offs.... *gets off his soap box and back on topic...

Well I hope it all works out...

    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
    • Right. The difference between being 120 out and 70 out for me (this is the important part) is negligible and not worth putting other risks into play off the tee.   Ok the argument against driver is that my shot cone is comically large. It puts every possible outcome into play. You can't see the green from the tee so there's a good chance I'd have to wait for it to clear which would slow down play. That's the third tee right in the middle of the firing range there. I really don't want to wait just to hit a terrible shot and I especially don't want to injure somebody. Yea I have no problem playing out of the rough short of the bunker if I'm just going to lay up short of the bunker, but I absolutely need to avoid flaring it right into the penalty area if I'm going to be laying up in the first place. As a general strategy I understand where you're coming from. But since we're specifically talking about me (this is a shot I'm going to have to hit on Saturday), I think the cost is fairly marginal. I hit the ball 8' closer on average from 50-100 than I do from 100-150 from the fairway and rough and the green success % difference is 4%. Bunker might as well be a penalty drop. Based on the data,  Here's my SG:A data compared to a 10: I honestly don't know how to use SG for decision making. That's why I was mostly looking at proximity to hole and green success rate for comparison. I mostly use SG as a way to track my progress. All good. Like I said, I appreciate the discussion. It makes me think. If I didn't want to see alternative/opposing viewpoints to my own I just wouldn't post anything. You should post it! In your own swing thread, of course. It's been a fun exercise.
    • Played my first 2024 round at Pierce Lake. Boomed my first drive down #10 fairway, then slowly slipped into mediocrity. 83 (69.6/131). The high point was going 2 of 4 on sand saves. My sand game is pretty marginal but today I must have discovered the secret for a couple hours.
    • day 34. Technique practice. Became too quick and outcome oriented. need to slow down and work on technique again.
    • Day 534, April 18, 2024 Practice before lessons today. Priority piece. No sim this time. 🙂
