As for forged, in past they tended to be more a player's iron, because they cost more and were not as likely to be bought by the average golfer. But some newer forged irons are quite forgiving such as the Nike VR_S Forged of circa 2012. It got the ball up quite well with its cavity head, even though the head was not overly large. Lie angle? If you will need a significant lie angle adjustment, consider Ping irons. Ping offers twelve color-coded lie angle zones, from Maroon (4.5° upright) to Golf (3.75° flat). If you want a very friendly GI model, consider their G25 or G30 irons. I strongly considered the G25s about 18 months ago.
