RIP Ben Keaton

I read about this on my Corvette forum. I didn't know him, however, he was known in the vette community as well and apparently was well liked. My prayers to his family. I guess the other guy, Cory I think it was,was recently married and leaves behind some young children. My prayers to his family as well.

Cory had been married for 30 days.

just too sad. I am definately not one to point fingers...especially from several thousand miles away, but the story I got was a track official waved a car out in front of them in mid session. The driver of that car hesitated at first, allowing the CGT to get ever closer. That moment's hesitation was all it took. On the actual approach onto track, the marshall signalled to stop, seeing the CGT was too close at that point. It was too late. They were already in the area of 150 mph, and the swerve to miss the incoming car resulted in the loss of control.

Also, that car has proven to be difficult to drive. Perhaps several scenarios came together at once and led to this tragedy. However it happened, it just sux.

I agree.

I have a 2003 Porsche 996tt (650hp with upgrades) and sometimes I think of selling it because I am playing a dangerous game.
Sometimes we just have to take a step back and say is it worth it.

I agree.

We all take a chance whenever we hit the road. Hell, these days walking out to your newpaper box is a chance.

Those of us with cars capable of very high speeds sometimes take larger chances, and find ourselves risking everything for a 30 second thrill. selling your car is not the answer. Disciplining yourself and not driving above your capabilities is the answer. If you can do this successfully, then you are at no more risk than the old man in the Buick you just passed. Drive on and be safe.
