Exactly. The angle of the invent suggests that the club was traveling toe first into the object, not leading with the face. Looks like he took the driver, turned it toe down and tomahawked it.

For what it's worth, my brother's driver from his inexpensive Tommy Armour box set has a near-identical indentation on it from a range ball he hit (or mishit, as it were). Those thin driver heads aren't so tough if they get hit at the wrong angle.

I would check it with a magnet. I thought titanium would crack before denting like this. If the magnet sticks its a fake for sure.

I've seen a bunch of dented drivers on ebay in the last week. Not limited to any one brand. I think it happens more than we know just don't hear about it. After browsing reviews and looking at different heads I was surprised to see all the accounts of people breaking heads. Most of the long drive nerds mentioned buying component heads from companies with lifetime warranties for that reason.

Implying that I fabricated the story? It happened from a single swing and happened to be the first swing I had from the club. There wasn't a single mark on the club when I got it. The dent itself isn't as bad in person as it is photographed. That's not to minimize that there is indeed a dent.

I realize it wasn't a beautiful swing, but sadly I'm not a pro golfer that has never had a bad swing like the majority of users here. Maybe one day I'll rise your level.

I have the new driver in from Global Golf and the heads are 100% identical in every way short of the serial number format. I can't find anything online dictating a specific format, so I'm unsure.

I was not implying anything. I am just surprised at the extent of the damage. I have hit my fair share of stinkers over the years and seen some absolute dogs of shots and never seen damage like that. Well, except one buddy that collected the tee marker!

There might have been a slight manufacturing defect or material thickness at the edge of the dimensional tolerance range that might have lead to the reactive indent by the ball getting hit in the perfectly wrong spot to cause the dynamic reaction and dent. Only way to speculate would be to cut the head in half horizontally right through the middle of the dent and then start measuring thicknesses. Of course for that you would also need the dimensioned drawings which I doubt Nike would let you have. I recently threw away a cracked driver head (different brand) where the crack was on the bottom and along the leading edge near the club face. I wish now that I would have kept it and cut it open just to see how it was manufactured. Sometimes I find that stuff interesting. And try not to take people's speculations too personal, people will come up with all sorts of theories for how or why something happened.
