Playing in skins tourney, big cash at end of year for weekend golfer.

1 post in this topic

Hello all, haven't posted in a while too much golf and work. Started playing this tourney called myskinsgame its pretty cool and the prize money and structure is pretty good. Basically what scores are eagles and birdies. Low score wins money but not as much as skins. All the guys that play are legit good. I assumed they were all scratch at first. Got paired with a PGA pro Chris Hunsucker. Older gent but could smack the living shit out of the ball. Just perfect iron shots. On number one I was pretty nervous but focused. Long par five with a slight draw. Smacked a driver flush, then hit hybrid to ten feet. Made putt for eagle on first hole! Ha I'm up on cash on the first hole. Then that was it, just boring golf. Pars, bogies, one birdy. Any who, this tourney is really cool and if you're down to play with some good golfers you should try this out. I just try to birdy every hole, and if I bogey or double a hole it don't matter. Hopefully all cities get this going. We're playing for $100,000 and there's only 37 guys playing right now. Ha I probably shouldn't post this but I think it'll be awesome with more people. Sunday golf, one day tourney with playoffs. Sorry for the long post. Hit em straight bitches!

    • 5 Gallon Bucket of Water on the 1st and 10th Hole

I think some courses look at the "bucket" as being less than appealing but the should be able to have something to wet a towel with at the 1st and 10th tees.  As for a Magic Eraser ??? Why? Who uses a magic eraser?

I completely agree you should only ever have the one ball you are playing in your bag at that level.  I will say however Callaway has introduced a Chrome Soft + that Phil and the boys have been using (I am currently testing them) my guess is that he had some of the Regular Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft + both in his bag.  It's a shame really and hope it doesn't affect the outcome of the match anymore than it has.

    • Good Golf Posture (How to Address the Golf Ball)
      By mythbuster · Posted
i am not overly athletic  and middle aged. my problem was flexibility. the way i overcame this in my golfing setup ,without the necessity of doing a stretch exercise routine, was quite amazing as well as totally simplistic . i used to try and "mirror" the set up of the pros. it is important to realize that i am not referring to the back/spine/butt relationship, but rather the convexity of the spine angle in relation to the target, not the ball. when you look at a photo of a pro front on, it is very deceptive to the eye as to what is actually transpiring. that is why it is fruitless an exercise to try and copy it. this setup is also so much "easier" on your back muscles. it sounds a bit far fetched, but it at least works for me. all i do as i bend naturally towards the ball (with club only in left hand), is to imagine i am just about to throw an object with my  left hand underarm up to where i think my back swing would end. that puts my spine in a "neutral " position and it feels just "right" .it is important to then allow the shoulders to adjust freely as the right hand is below the left. if you do it correctly ,(which i might add is a totally natural human movement), in front of a mirror, you will be amazed at how  your address position now resembles that of a pro. in my case it enabled me to turn my shoulders more freely. ps- i think that my problem was sloping my spine to the right at address, when it is just the shoulders  in the pro photos that are creating this illusion. anyway, once i get my short game/ bunker play and putting yips under control i may be able to lower my handicap a tad.

I'm curious how that even happens with a guy at that level.  I mean, why is there even a second type of ball in your bag in the first place?
