Best Sunglasses for vision enhancement on the course

Hey guys,

I am getting back into playing golf after about 10 years. Unfortunately my eyesight is really shortsighted. I wear contacts but have a bit of an issue when on the course in terms of following the ball. In bright conditions can anyone advise the best sunglasses option to help with not only shading from glare but (hopefully) helping with trying to follow the ball in the air? Any advice/recommendations thankfully received!

It's hard to beat Oakley when it comes to athletic sunglasses with their huge variety of lens options. I would ask a specialist in your local eyeglass store that carries Oakleys.

This is the pair of Oakley's I just received for my birthday.  I've never worn sunglasses to play until now and I can't believe I've played all these years without them!  They really cut the glare on bright days.  It's easy to look up and see your ball fly and they don't distort my depth perception when over the ball.  The G30 lens is Oakley's golf specific lens.  Give these a look.

personally, i wear ray-bans that have a retro look, and seem to work great.

I wear contacts too, and my eyes are extremely sensitive to glare.  I was never able to wear sunglasses on the course though because I was distracted by light bleeding through from the sides.  At the recommendation of a buddy, I tried the Oakley Flak Jackets in the G30 lens, and haven't looked back.  The lens is dark enough for bright, sunny days, and light enough that I wear them on cloudy days too for the contrast they provide.  They also stay where they are.  Even on hot, sweaty days, no slippage.

HIGHLY recommended.

I have been using Oakley M-Frames for years.  G30 lenses are excellent in all conditions.  Mine are prescription too.

If it is for sports, Oakley, the best out there.

What I like about my glasses is that they have anti-glare on the inside part of the lens, just in case the sun is behind me. Devil in the details!!

My personal preference is to the maui jim ka'anapali they are an extremely light weight wire frame. The only problem I have found with these glasses is that they are so light that I have lost two pair to the Pacific because I forgot I was wearing them... Great durability, polarized lenses, weightless

I have a pair of Oakley half jackets that I love. They have polarized black iridium lenses that I love.  They are great for driving and for everyday use,  but I question whether this is the best lens to follow the ball through the air.   I recently purchased a pair of Under Armour glasses with non-polarized orange lenses and I've been wearing these to play golf.....

I wear the Oakley's for everything else.   Which is better for golf??  Hell...I really don't know, but I think I prefer the non-polarized  lenses for golf. I still struggle to see the ball down no matter which glasses I wear.  My eyes are supposedly 20-20 with my contacts, but I have my doubts    I guess I shouldn't hit the ball so damn far!     Hahaha

When it comes to quality of construction, both are high quality, but Oakley is a notch higher....IMO     The Oakleys cost more, so that should go without saying.......

I wear the tifosi podium sunglasses and they are the best sunglasses I've ever worn and wear them everyday. They come with three different lenses and I find the purple lenses to be the best lenses to track the ball. The best part is that they are framless and so your vision is in no way obstructed at all. All that and they cost about 65 bucks.  Can't be beat in regards to price and quality.

I also have a pair of Oakley sunglasses with the G30 lenses in them and the Flak Jacket frame. I needed a general pair of sunglasses regardless, but I decided to try the golf lens to see how well it worked since I didn't want a dark tint anyways. I found them to help a little when tracking the golf ball, but it mostly helps when you're looking for a ball in the grass (especially with fallen leaves around it). It makes the ball look just different enough that you can tell it apart from other debris like leaves or a wrapper on a sunny day when you're not right on top of it. The other nice part is that those sunglasses have a design where they don't move on your face at all when you swing. That was the biggest thing before about playing golf with sunglasses, is they would move during my swing so I would never wear them. These are nice because they're comfortable and stay put on your head, and the tint is nice too. They have my recommendation.

Not at all.  I use my feet to read the greens (AimPoint).

Only polarized ones.  I don't seem to see Bermuda grain and consequently subtle slope variances as well with them.  I wear non-polarized lenses on the course.  FWIW, the Oakley G30 "golf specific" lenses are non-polarized.

I have the Maui Jim world cup and I love looking through them but the weight of the glass lenses slide the glasses down my nose. If I can get this fixed they would be perfect.

Get anything with Polaroid lenses. All the light gets let in - essential for shortsightednessand accuracy of vision, but all the glare is taken out.
