Hey all.  I'm new to golf, and was thinking about giving the Medicus driver a go at hopefully learning some good habits.  While I've read a couple of negative reviews, they are mostly positive.  Any thoughts on this?  There are also Medicus irons, but I'm thinking the driver would be most beneficial to begin with.  Again, any suggestions made would be greatly appreciated.

I have one in a closet somewhere and the only negative thing I can say about it is that I could swing it time after time and never have any of the hinges "break" (even from the first day I bought it).

That should indicate I had/have a decent swing...but I don't. So I can't say that it helped me any at all.

On the other hand it seemed to help my son quite a bit and it was hinging all over the place when he first used it.

I would say it's a good tool for identifying and working on certain swing flaws but other flaws don't show up at all using it.

Thanks for the quick response!  Honestly, being new to a forum, I realize I should have searched first before asking this question as it seems others have had similar questions and gotten good feedback.  Anyhow, I'm thinking if getting this helps with just some of my swing issues, it's worth a few bucks (going to search Craigslist shortly).  Thanks again.

I wouldn't recommend it. The concept takes too narrow a view of what constitutes a good golf swing. There are plenty of Tour players who would break the hinges on every swing but, clearly, they have great swings. I would recommend looking into the 5sk teaching methods as they eliminate all the stylistic bullshit and focus on the 5 elements of the swing that you need to get right to play good golf. Welcome to the forum, you'll learn way more from hanging out here than you would by swinging that Medicus gadget.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
