First let me start off by saying I know alot of people like this ball. I am not slamming it, just giving my experience. No one likes a good ball for less money more than me. Found them at Dick's two dozen for $30 and I had a $10 off coupon so I figured what the heck I will give them a try. Also read a good review on them in golf digest. Off the tee with my driver I lost 20-30 yrds, I needed proof of this so I gave a friend one to try. He regularly out drives me by the same 20-30 yards, I out drove him on 6 straight holes. He changed back to his regular ball and out drove me the rest of the day (not exactly scientific I know). With my irons I had to go up a club on every shot while using the gamers. Never really liked Top-Flite balls and these just aren't for me. Anyone else noticed a loss of yardage with these ?

You made me glad I didn't buy those like I was thinking about when I went up to Dick's Thursday. I went looking for the gamer v2's or whatever I had read about but they didn't have those. Ended up not buying any golf balls because I didn't want to take a chance on something I hadn't heard about.

Hmmm. I played a few holes with one of those that I found last year and liked it (compared to what my opinion of Top Flight had always been). I hit a couple of what seemed like normal distance drives with it, but then my driver distances vary a lot anyway so I wouldn't necessarily notice the difference with a small sample. Didn't like it enough to want to run out and buy a box or anything like that but I thought it was surprisingly okay. BTW about that same time I played a round with a Calloway tour ball that I found (not even sure which one) and hit some of the longest drives I've hit in several years that day. My playing partner even joked that I needed to go to the store and buy a box of them. Pretty sure that I was just having a good day. ;-)

I played them for a bit and didn't notice a significant decrease in distance.

I played them most of last season and found that they were long, but not Gamer V2 long (for my 85-90SS). Where the Gamer Tour excels is around the greens with plenty of spin for my game.  Also, when I say "not Gamer V2 long" I mean an average of about 5-6 yards shorter off the tee - still very respectable.  If you are looking for another relatively inexpensive urethene ball to try I would recommend the Maxfli U/3 which is one of the longest balls I have hit, very durable, but a touch less spin than the GT.

I played the Gamer V2 before Dick's bought Top Flite.  I haven't personally played the Gamer Tour but a couple of guys I know have.   They are raving about this ball and claim it to be the best thing since sliced bread.   As much as I liked the old Gamer V2, I have been thinking about trying the Gamer Tour..

This time of year (in Ohio anyway) the leaves start falling and even a decent tee ball can stray a little off the fairway and NOT be found.  I hate losing my ProV1's unnecessarily, so I always buy 'cheaper' balls this time of year... at least to hit off the tee on par 4 and 5 holes.  Yesterday I bought 2 boxes of Gamer Tour balls on the advice of the kid in the golf dept. at Dick's.  I'm playing at the Grizzly Course today and look forward to trying them.  Never was a Top Flite fan, but these are supposed to be pretty decent balls with a good amount of spin off the wedge shots.  We'll see...  maybe I'll comment later.  BTW, I paid $35 for 2 boxes, so the price is great.

I'm trying different golf balls right now; Callaway Diablo Tour, Top-Flite Gamer Tour (2016 Golf Digest Gold Award). I hit the Diablo further. Not enough that it turns me away from the Gamer Tour though. I have much more control with the Gamer Tour and can stop it and spin it. I didn't make a move on the Gamer Tour until Dick's Sporting Goods sent me a sample sleeve in the mail and played a great round with them.

For those that catch this thread in time, Diablo Tour and Gamer can be found at Dick's right now at an excellent price.

Diablo is buy one get one free. $25.99 for 2 dozen.

All Top-Flight golf balls are 50% off. This includes the Gamer Tour. You end up with 2 dozen for $24.99.

I liked the older Gamer Tours but have not tried the new ones.  What is your swing speed with driver?

If you're looking for good deals, you should try the Kirkland Signature golf balls when Costco restocks them. They are 4 piece ball with urethane cover, similar to Pro V1 but cost $29.99 for two dozen.

My swing speed with the driver will run between 96 and 100. I'll carry my drive out around 250 or so. This is my second full season playing now. I did get a few family members to order the Kirkland from Costco for me but they are out of stock. Can't wait to get those and give them a shot.

The new Gamer Tour has a Urethane cover vs the diablo Ionomer cover. This may be why I'm spinning them.

When I have played these I liked them. I didn't pay close attention to the driver distance.

Custom fit RBZ irons. Taylormade RBZ driver. Some crappy old high-bounce Macgregor wedge and an even older Mizuno 5 wood. Haven't settled on a ball yet - still looking. Decades of football, weightlifting and boxing came together to create the world's worst golfer. I'm slowly correcting that now.

Tried Gamer and Gamer Soft. They are only "OK", but price is good.  I like Precept Laddie-X better.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
