I wouldnt play by myself at all since the little time away from the wife and kids is strictly for REAL GOLF. But I'd definitely take my sons out for some Foot Golf in a heartbeat.

I would play. I'll play almost any kind of sport or game.

Would probably be better at that than regular golf anyway. ;-)

We will be playing with the grand kids this week.  The foot golf course is shared with a par 3 course so there will be a mixture of real golfers and footers.  Should be interesting.  If I were on my own and golf was not available, I would disc golf.  We have a number of disc golf courses and I play a fair amount in the winter (put away the white discs, however!).

Played it yesterday with my son.  It was really, really fun for both of us.  For anybody who likes soccer and golf, you will like this game.  It's a par 3 (mostly) 9-hole golf course that would take 2 average people an hour or hour and 15 minutes to get through, and the two of us would have probably finished this game in about 35-40 minutes, were it not for a little waiting on the last couple of holes.  But even then, so what?  While you're waiting ... play some soccer!!

I played footgolf with our extended family (wives, sons, daughter-in-laws, grandkids) and it was a great time.  Everyone can kick a ball, even our 4 year old grandson.  Not everyone can swing a golf club.  I do not see footgolf making any inroads with traditional golfers but it is a fun game.

Very cool, I can't wait to try it.  Seems like a great activity to do with your kids as well.

I'd play it...and I hate soccer.

I agree.  My son likes regular golf as well.  But at only 5 1/2, he's not ready for a real game yet.  This game is hardly more than a nice walk around the course, with a few kicks thrown in.

An added bonus is that it will get him a little more familiar with the course so when we go back out there with golf clubs, it won't be as foreign or intimidating.

I just found out that my club is going to turn the executive course (Kittyhawk's Falcon) into foot golf. Maybe all that really means is a gargantuan hole on the other side of the green, but I'm not real excited about it.

Too often, the short course is all I got time for.

I watched some people playing foot golf at a par 3 course in my town. It looks like fun. Maybe try to get the family into it?

I played on a course that also allowed kick golf at the same time as regular golf.  My first question to the starter was how do we not hit these people with our golf shots and he assured me that they move along quickly, basically playing 18 holes in 2 hours.  They kick from much closer tees and have a couple of holes the size of small garbage can openings with an entirely different set of flags.  As it turned out, once we got used to the extra flags on the course, it was not a problem at all.   The biggest surprise is that the foot golfers used carts which was a good thing since they moved along very quickly.  The course is in NW Jersey (Cascades) and is a 9 hole 3600 yard (from the tips) layout whichi s part of the Crystal Springs resort much has multiple courses.  The Cascades course also has "green" , or novice tees which were great from my 9 year old grandson.

Footgolf seems like a good idea for golf courses to make a little extra money but I think it would actually be a problem if it got reasonably popular. Because if Footgolf only takes 2 hours, how is the course supposed to regulate pace of play when the tee sheet is packed with a mix of real golfers and foot golfers? Tee time spacings would be near impossible to plan.

I talked to Jana, and they are going to have FG and regular holes on the falcon.

That's sort of what I figured. I guess that only casual or practice rounds get played out there anyway, so having a massive hole on the other side of green isn't that big a deal. If you hit into it or behind it, just take a free one next to it.

Supposing that foot golfers don't jam up the works, aesthetics are the only real rub. Hopefully it makes them a few extra bucks.

Yeah, the footgolf game is not actually played on the same greens as the regular golf game.  Footgolf holes can only be 60-100 or so yards long.  The par 3 course near me has the holes on their own separate "greens" within 20-30 yards of the regular golf greens, but not on them.

A full size course near me is starting it too, and the holes are off in the trees.  The first hole of the golf course has, I think, 3 footgolf holes along its edge.

To answer @SavvySwede 's question above, at the par 3 course, because the layouts are pretty much the same, the tee sheet is just one big intermingled sheet.  If you happen to get stuck behind a foursome of golfers as a twosome of footgolfers, then you're going to probably just have to wait a bit, or sneak past them just like faster golfers would.

But on the big course, I would have to think that they only open the footgolf course at the end of the day - during the last couple of hours of daylight where few golfers would be to tee off anyway.  Of course, that is just a guess, but that seems logical to me.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
