How to Practice with the Matzie Assist Swing Trainer

2 posts in this topic

I recently thought about purchasing the Matzie Assist Swing trainer based on some reviews and the need for some faster club head speed. The instructional dvd doesn't look like it really gives any instructions (if you care there is a youtube video for it). I also read the instructions on the website which weren't a lot. It obviously has a grip on it to teach you that but how is this supposed to correct my slice with the bent shaft? I feel like swinging it is good but if you don't start the downswing with the hips you'll still come over the top and hit a slice. What is the purpose of the bent shaft?

Are there things I'm supposed to practice with this club to really make it effective?

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this post by the way.

I would assume that you should swing as you currently do and it is supposed to help correct and out to in swing path.   I would recommend filming your swing with your regular 6 iron and then the trainer and see if it changes your swing.

How often do you use a divot tool? What is a reasonable price for a high end divot tool? Ex. Brass or Aluminum made Does anyone else find it annoying when your group doesn't fix their divots?  What kind of divot tool do you have? Why do you have it!?    -Tigon Woods

What is the most you would pay for a divot tool? I have a friend that bought one for $69 but it's pretty high end and he tells me it adds a little something to his green game. -Tigon Woods

Ill try to mix the two I really don't like to fix something if it isn't broken, however I will say it's far from perfect. I look at hunter mahan and it just looks to restrictive I guess that's the modern swing. I'm a self taught guy like Seve here.

Hi all...busy with some work this weekend, and poor weather...so, didn't play on the weekend, but hope to get out 2 or 3 times this week....will let you know if my 'new theory' ("baseball grip + Moe Norman swing" combo) still holds water for me......always an experiment !!
    • Driving Range Routeen? What Should You Do at the range? (Reccomend drills and routeens you do)

First and foremost I am always aiming at at a target.  I usually start with my wedges, and work my way to my driver. I am always working on my alignment with each club. I carry two 3' metal yard sticks for that. The last 20 or so balls, I will hit driver, 5i, wedge. at a target. Sometimes it's 3w, 8i, wedge. Sometimes I will give my 5w some extra time. I always take my time. Once I am done at the driving range, I will move to the short game area, and from there to putting green. I am fortunate to have a very decent practice facility I can use.
