An app so it's easier to get on when not at the computer. Most young people only use their computer for word, which is being replaced with some apps. Also, if you got a notification when your response is quoted, so you can keep up with your posts a lot easier. Also maybe 2 ratings attached to your name, voted on my members when you post. 1 is a percentage that shows how accurate and relevant your posts are. And 2 is a growing number based on how much you post. Like eBay, however it works. I wouldn't get good ratings but it would still be helpful when judging how goods someone's response or answer is

You can even pin it to your homepage and just treat it like an app.

yeah I hav the app and use the homescreen app thing. The mobile version is just kinda finecky when it takes a while to load. Everything keeps shifting and it takes a while. How do I change the settings to get the notifications when I'm quoted. I don't see it under preferences.

I think we need to look at a creative way to encourage interaction and positive post somehow....  I don't have the answer but maybe something for clicking and adding to reputation or the "that's helpful" button...

I like the "plays from the tips" "legend of the game" "now on the tee".... but I think the progression of membership should be revamped somehow to encourage new members to progress faster and be able to earn "level ups" or "reputation" points easier and it should be harder to continue to level as you get higher....  Just some type of progression system for each members profile.  Having new member level up quickly encourages them to stay and of course as you become a more prominent member it slowly gets harder to "level up"...

I don't have the answer, but I think revamping it may be good - I'll work on proposing a better solution rather than posting a broad idea, I just don't have it right now lol...

Overall though, good job on the site!

I would like to see more pictures. Its true, this must be done by the members. But most of us don't. Maybe some threads to get us going. For instance ' show us a picture of where you played today'. And maybe a thread on signature holes. Pics and how someone played it. Best picture of the month and a small prize? But overall, there is a lot and very good content.

Hello.  I would like some recommendations on what kind of games I can play on the course other than strokeplay or matchplay...what types of OTHER games do you guys like to play?

Thanks, and welcome to the site. Not really the point of the thread, but you started another for this topic, so that's good.

I think this is an awesome web site. If I need instruction on something that's bothering me or failing in my golf game, there's something usually within the first page or 2 of the instruction forum that'll address it.

Maybe something on the side of the website that'll allow for searching the videos?

Maybe something that groups the videos... example: these videos are for chipping, these are pitching, these are flop shots, these help with backspin, these help with grip, these help with driving, these for creating a draw, these for a fade, these for putting...

This might already be covered and done and if so, sorry about that... or it might not be possible... and I know I can always do an internet search but there are times when my search-fu just isn't working well.

Aside from that, the thing I've noticed about the SandTrap is that  a lot of the thread posts I see (I hit the new posts link to show what's changed in the forums) are dealing with tips and instruction on the golf swing. I have absolutely no problem with that and actually try to read a lot of them to learn.

It's a great site with some amazing instruction available. Thanks Iacas, Mvmac, and everyone else that participates.

I think this is a good idea.  A forum i frequent for my beer brewing hobby has a wiki.  Basically when there's a really good post that explains a part of the process really well they put the information into a wiki.  Golf instruction isn't exactly the same, but you see a lot of the time Mike or someone responds to an question with a bunch of links to previous discussions.  If nothing else it could be one comprehensive list of links to those discussions, categories by swing keys or parts of the game or whatever.

I think TST is a great forum. The content is very good, and most of the members seem to be pretty decent. If there was anything I'd add to the site, it would be in game crates where you could level up, or get health packs. Oh wait, my mind is wandering.

I am fairly new, and perhaps this already exists, but maybe some threads linking people geographically.  For example, this past Saturday I wanted to play in a two-person scramble and my playing partner backed out.  I thought I could come on here and see if anyone in the SE Michigan area might want play.  Something like a "find a playing partner" thread, etc.  I can't picture exactly how it might work.  I searched a bit and didn't see anything like this.

Hi @Braivo site!

If you look at the top of the page you will find a tab for GROUPS. There are several "groups" dedicated to local area golfers and you can always start a new group if your area isn't covered. There are also lots of groups dedicated to interests outside of golf so have a look around.

Thanks!  I did notice this feature when searching for a playing partner.  Unfortunately, most of the groups have too few members to make them of much value.  I wonder if there would be a way to increase their use to make them more valuable?  There is a Michigan golfer group, with only 6 members, but I wonder how many are unaware this exists.

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
