Hey Guys,

I am a pro PGA scout and I have been scouting a local golf tour in NY called the PBAC tour. I think I have discovered serious talent. A guy named Zack who plays on the tour has the potential to be the best players of all time.  Scouts everywhere are talking about him. I have been around golf scouting for 35 years and I havent been this impressed.  I am predicting that he takes the, "B Group" by storm and partners up with Jim to win the tour.  Everybody watch out for these guys.

Couldn't find anything online about a PBAC tour. Also, why do golf pros need scouts?

Can you tell us more about this guy? What makes him so great? How old is he? Who do you compare him to in terms of talent? In terms of body build and swing? Give us some of your scouting report details on him maybe?

http://www.dmoz.org/Sports/Golf/Organizations/Mini-Tours/

Found this list of pro golf tours and sadly the PBAC is a no show. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but if it is, it's a very well kept secret.

Now on to another subject, that's part of the equation. I don't mean to sound harsh or that someone is just pushing an unknown, but in all my years of golf (over 50 +) and on a PT playing schedule on a northeast mini tour, way back in the early 70's, I've never heard of a "pro golf scout". Again, doesn't mean there's not one, but this is a first, at least for me. I played with some really very good players back then, and granted, the tour money back then wasn't all that enticing. Most of the guys had decent day jobs and made their golf course money on hustling. In fact the mini tour circuit was fairly short and the payouts were this side of a joke. But it was a way to play with high caliber players and test your metal. If there was a scout back then, although the Old Lefty is well after my time (35 years), there very well may be scouts, but usually guys that can really play in today's arena, are known by folks that have money (local levels) and are attempting to step up to Q school or go overseas. Anyway, that's the story line from my perspective.

Hate crowned cups.

Sure can.  He's 6'4 and built long and lean with a swing that looks scary similar to a young Tiger.  Right now he is 27 but only started golfing 3 years ago. The game simply has came to him and he has been improving every time he steps on the range.  I would say his putting is where he really has improved the most.  He is sinking putts from 10-12 feet out consistently which is evidence alone he is ready to make the jump from the B group to the A group in only 3 years of golf experience. The PBAC tour is shaping out to be the best its ever been and I'm really excited to scout it all season.

What are you talking about? - There does not seem to be a PBAC Tour. - There are no such things as pro golf scouts. So again what are you talking about?

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

So he is not talking about the Palm Bay Aquatic Center tour guides? Here I was proud of that college intern for making it to the "shark tour guide" level.

In my finest 16th century dialog................"I fear good breather n, that a fearsome troll has rendered Camelot unsafe" Whatever shall be done to remove said villainous creature from our midst and render the subjects safe from yonder misgivings? Where's the fun in doing that before the story develops further?

Where's the fun in doing that before the story develops further?

To paraphrase Shakespeare......"To be(lieve) or not to be(lieve), that is the question" Whether it be nobler to have the renderings of the unknown as factual or shall we convince other's of the treachery that lies beneath the writers pen. Alas, poor lefty, we knew him not.............

Or we go with Robert De Niro........"You talkin story!....you talkin story!..........Fagetabout it, ain't no stinkin story.....

Back years ago there was a novel about a guy who invented a dice based baseball game and did full seasons of the teams, creating players and back stories and off-field incidents, etc.  So much so that he ended up kind of losing himself in the game.

Ahhh, found it: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Baseball-Association-Henry-Waugh/dp/0452260302/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid;=1431453970&sr;=8-2&keywords;=universal+baseball

Here is a god description of the book taken from one of the reviews:

Quote:
The basic story . . . is quite simple. Henry Waugh creates an intricate single-player baseball game that's played with dice. He plays entire seasons with his eight-team league; he keeps detailed statistics for every player and every game; he creates backstories and personalities for his players; he develops an administrative body for his league and imagines political debates among the players; and he acts as an official historian of the league, writing volumes of stories about the game and its players. When something shocking and unexpected occurs within the game, Henry gradually loses the ability to distinguish between reality and imagined events within the game. In the end, he is more or less consumed by his game.

So I'm thinking maybe Old Lefty has the same thing going on with a self-invented golf game.  But his league is called the PBAC.

BTW, I read this book at least 25 or more years ago but I remember it as a pretty good read.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

You have a good eye Old Lefty I'm pretty sure my team is watching the same guy. The impact we think he is going to have on the golf community almost scares us. If he dominants the PBAC tour this year like we see him doing he will have no problem getting his tour card next year.

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
