You sound like you come down on the ball instead of up try and swing up and clip the ball off the tee this means less high Skyed shots and Skyed shots lose distance just a educated guess does this sound familiar

Ok, will try this evening to catch the ball while the Driver is going up, and with the center of the face... Not easy!

Well, it was not bad! I hit some really good shots with the driver yesterday! My main thoughts were these: not let the head went fordward, not do overswing, and speed! however, I need more time in order to get confidence and bring this speed to the course... but I am on the right way !! I´m starting to love my drive! and I still don´t own the new Nike Vapor Speed which one I want ! ! !

You have 4, four, days to make your goal, Jameson.  Gonna succeed?  Y r u wasting ur time on new avatars?  U should be putting on the carpet at home, dropping those 5 foot bombs.

hajaja! thanks for the encouragement! yes, I know I should be practising! Well, I´m gonna practise today, a little bit of everything (Drive, Putt, and Irons), and see how the tournaments go... Anyway, I don´t want to feel so much pressure, I´m going to enjoy the matches, and have fun. Let´s see what happen. But, I´m close, just 1,7... is achievable !!

Well Jameson I'm glad your driving well the only problem now is that you support the pats and not the Bears!!

I´m thinking about the main points of my practise time yesterday... just to write it down and focus on them on my next session, and one thing I write is: hover the Driver head above the ground just before starting the backswing. What do you guys think about this? is good for a slicer? I feel that it could add a bit more tension into my grip, but in general terms, it improves my ball striking...

Some other poster asked a Q about Ben Hogan.  I had Ben's book at hand and quoted Ben thusly :

"It is extremely important to keep the elbows and the arms as close together as possible."

Next day i had those same thoughts in my mind and I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE IN BALL STRIKING. Not one slice, straight drives and +20 yards.  Where had Ben been all my life?  I think this technique kept me from going OTT, and that kept me on plane.

Have a great round.

Your thought was to keep them together which helped you extend through impact better. That's a good feel, and I just went through this as well. Keep up the good work, and gain some distance and accuracy. :-)

Well, I played two tournaments last weekend: the first one with good sensations, but sadly two holes where I was not able to make points (because of bad drives....), finally 37 points, but don´t know why my handicap did not drop... The second tournament was good, but not finish well with my putt, and some bad luck (two balls finish touching the trunk of trees), and finish with 35 points. So it looks like I did not reach my goal... 18,6, a bit sad... However, I´m going to make a new challenge and think about a new goal, just to help me practise better... will tell you about it and how to plan everything... Don´t worry !

I would recommend just changing the title of this thread to something like "Shoot in the 80s from bogey with 5 minutes a day of focused practice." Or something like that, and continue to post here. We can follow your progress from the very start! You'll improve! :-)

Thanks for your comments all this time. I feel good, because I´ve worked and I feel I´m playing better, I almost reach my goal, just a bit more of luck and I would have made it... It´s good to strive for a goal...

So you mean that I can reach my goal, let´s say ¿handicap 15? if I follow a good plan, within the next 3 or 4 months..... You are a good example since you are getting a lot better, so I will take your comments seriously. Thanks again.

    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
    • Have you looked at Model Local Rule F-9 Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway?  You could extend this to cover exposed rocks.  The rule is recommended to be used only for areas relatively near the fairway, a player who hits a shot 20 yards in the woods doesn't really deserve relief.   Players can always take Unplayable Ball relief, they're not required to play it from a rock or a root.  Of course, they hate to take the penalty stroke too.
    • I agree with @klineka, you're clearly doing something right.  Its always going to be a bit of a guessing game if you don't have any scoring history.  On the other hand, understanding that it takes only 54 holes to establish an actual handicap, and they have about 6 weeks in which to play and post enough scores, I don't think its at all unreasonable to require them to have an official handicap before they become eligible for prizes.  I don't know how you structure the fees for the series of competitions, but if its possible they'll play with the group without being eligible for prizes, you could consider a way to let them do that without contributing to the prize pool.
    • I run tournaments and want to put in a local rule that allows relief from tree roots and rocks that are not loose impediments. We have some really terrible lies in some of our courses in my area and nobody is getting paid enough to break clubs. Let me know if you think the verbage for this rule makes sense. Local Rule Roots and Rocks You may move your ball from a tree root or buried rock one club length for free relief no closer to the hole. However you may not use this rule to get relief from a tree, bush, boulder, or other foliage hindering your swing. Your only option here is to play it as it lies or take an unplayable for a one stroke penalty.
    • Makes sense.  Like I said, I wouldn't have been upset at their original offer either, and based on the fine print it seems like they've held up their end of the deal.
