I'm new to forums like this so I don't know if this is even worthwhile, anyway, currently I play off ahandicap of 25 and I am playing with a cobra baffler t rail 5 wood that I have been using for the past 2 ish years Ican't really remember. It has a regular shaft on it and the rest of my woods are stiff shafts.I'm consistently hitting 210yards.I'm considering changing it out for a new one and what I'm wondering is what type should Igetm and what flex should I get. My price range is anywhere up to 200 give or take

Any idea what your swing speed is? If you hit your 5 wood 210 yards then you should probably use a stiff or a soft stiff shaft. Basically all golf companies make pretty good fairway woods, some of the more popular ones would Callaway or TaylorMade

You could also look into just changing the shaft to a V2 pro force for $50. Usually on sale for $30-$50 and $9 plus grip to have a shop like Golfsmith put it in. Do you carry the 5W 210 or is that total distance? If carry and given the flex of your other clubs stiff might be enough, but you should get fit. It's usually free at a big box store like Golfsmith with the purchase of a club or shaft.

I'm pretty much narrowed it down to either the taylormade sldr 5 wood or the slds 5 wood both with a stiff shaft . Does anyway have any opinions on either of these and which one is the better club

SLDR S will probably be a better club for you. SLDR is for higher swing speeds.

SLDR S will probably be a better club for you. SLDR is for higher swing speeds.

For specifics:

  • The SLDR has a "lower and more forward Center of Gravity." A person with a higher swing speed could get a somewhat lower ball flight - and more distance - from the head design.
  • The SLDR S ads talk about "ease of launch." This means the head design helps get the ball up higher, which actually increases distance for someone with more average swingspeed.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
