My wife bought me a set of Tour Edge clubs. And when I was out with my friends they said the clubs look to short for me. They are men's clubs I assume standard length. Also have my father in laws clubs which are the taylormades. When I put the 2 different clubs together the taylormades are about a 1" longer in the shafts. Which club is better? And how do I know if the Tour Edges are to short for me?

For many years, the "average" length of a men's stock 5i was 38" (golfdom has no real standards on this). The table below shows your HP20 clubs next to other models.

Your HP20 has about the same shaft length as the RSi2.

Are these clubs right for you ? You could do some "tape tests" to check out shaft length and lie angle. Put some face decals on the club, hit a few shots, and see where the impact patterns are. Shots near toe, possibly too short; scattered, possibly too long.

Also, put on some sole tape, and hit shots off a lie board. If your impact rub appears near the heel, the lie angle is too upright; impact rub near the toe, too flat. A good fitter can help you interpret each test.

You have to hit balls to do this, simply soling the club beside the ball does not take into account the dynamic lie angle at contact.

Focus, connect and follow through!
