I majored in Ancient European history...... We were never allowed to use anything but the most recent historical research bc it changes so much as we become more knowledgable. Dude from the 1700's is not even close to an accurate description. The moral decline thing is an old urban legend.

I majored in Engineering, and actually had to work in college.

What do you mean "work?" I grew up in poverty and worked my ass off and never been helped once with hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt and own my own law firm. I am as far from a silver spooner than you can get

Sorry, it was just a joke most engineering majors made when most of the other students went off on Friday nights to party while we studied. . .

Oh yeah, liberal arts majors are a joke, I agree. You definitely worked 100 times harder than I did in undergrad. I'm just saying that even though it was a stupid major it is still useful for the discussion we are having. Hey look I used my degree for once other than just to get into law school!

You definitely made up for it taking the LSAT and getting into a decent law school. That's really hard to do. . .

I know. I thought he might have been implying that people majoring in easy things were just there bc mommy and daddy were paying their way so they could party. I agree 100% that it is a lame major compared to engineering

Both of my older brothers are engineers. I actually find history very interesting. Ancient all the way to somewhat recent. Fact based fiction are some of my favorite books to read.

Yeah, that can happen too, I suppose it depends upon the student.

Seriously, it was only a joke.

Many engineering majors took 5 years to graduate so they could take lighter loads. I had a lot of friends who minored in another engineering field and finished in 4 years, so it was much harder for them.

Thanks. I got into a Top 20 and graduated with honors but still ended up opening my own firm in the end so I could have saved a few 100k by going to a crappy school. ;)

College in general is over rated. I DID major in engineering and I got a nice job out of college (that I still have 18 years later) and I coasted all the way through. There are plenty of liberal arts majors who worked harder than I did, guaranteed. (Not bragging about being smart or anything either - just admitting laziness ... I didn't get good grades or awards but I got that piece of paper)

That's because you chose Civil Engineering. :-P Now if you were a man's man, you would have chose a harder one like Chemical Engineering. We didn't have any course about dirt.

No "dirty" courses? :-D

Yeah, Chemical Engineering is really tough. My youngest cousin finished up his BS/MS degree at USC a few years ago, he is one of the smartest in my family and said it was really tough.

Rimshot! I still chuckle when I see (or think about) one of my 500 page, $75 textbooks that was entitled "Pavement Design."

I received my degree in Geology, and made a living with it first, in the oil industry, and then with the EPA in their compliance sector for a private company. I have worked with quite a few PEs over the years. Most were pretty smart people, although I did make quite a bit of money fixing a few others' screw ups.

Baseball paid for most of my college education. That turned out to be quite a grind as I to make time for geology field studies, baseball practice, and games.

We had a gut course that was popular for getting rid of a science requirement called Geology 1 and everyone called it Rocks for Jocks. I like how your college career embodied that title even more fully, haha
