How late into the season do you golf?

We play year round and the only time we don't play is if there is snow on the ground or the temperatures are under 45. Maybe 50.

Usually until mid-July, because it gets too hot to play. Then I resume around September again. . .

I asked my home course when in the year they shut down for winter and was told when it snows.

I will continue playing until that day and then hopefully find somewhere in the winter that stays open or an indoor course (if they exist).

I was wondering how late into fall/winter you guys in the Midwest or colder winter areas continue to play?

Here in mid-Michigan I usually play until the temperatures reach 50º.    Usually the snow isn't far behind.

I'd love to find a snowbird area where I can spend the winters golfing.

Living in the UK I expect to play through winter. It'll get cold but a base layer, decent jacket, some mitts and a wolly hat and it'll be fine. As long as there isn't much wind, as I find wind chill brutal being skinny. Not until joining this forum did I appreciate for a lot of Americans golf has a season!

I know this may be a stupid question, but does the cold affect the ball or clubs in a negative way where you probably shouldn't golf in cold temps or makes things very different? Like, for example, could it damage your driver? I know that hitting the ball with a bat can damage nice bats in softball or at least that's why I've been told.

damage driver or clubs? no. effect the ball flight, spin and compresion and feel of the ball....yes indeed. An extra club sometimes two is enough to keep things interesting. the pure beauty of playing when its cold out......no crowds

AMEN!!! Makes me want to move to Alaska. The world seems full of slow inconsiderate players. Its taking me close to five hours to play golf during the week. Its getting a bit ridiculous and Im truly scared I may have to quit golf when temps are above 50 degrees.

The sweet spot if you ask me is between 45-50 degrees with sun and no wind. Plenty comfortable enough for me, but only the hardcore will be out.

I'd golf in sub zero temps if need be; it just depends on whether or not there's snow on the ground. 30s is no problem as long as the wind is calm.

50F is my threshold and I usually play through October.

This for me as well. I tried playing on Thanksgiving Day last year. It was sunny, no snow on the ground, and 35-40 degrees, I did not enjoy this at all.

Here in okie land we have no off season might be difficult in Jan and Feb but because the weather can swing 25+ degrees in 24 hours you can even catch good days during that stretch - wind is usually bigger factor in winter than the temp

It's mostly about the temps for me more than late season. I will still play as long is it at least 50 degree's. Anything below 50 is just not much fun for me anymore.

This is pretty much my rule of thumb as well.

I don't play a lot after the first hard freeze which is usually late October or sometimes even late November in the deep mid-south. Occasionally though I will venture out for 9 or so on a nice day during the winter.
