I have a condo at Talamore (between Pinehurst and Southern Pines), and visit a couple of times every year, so I've become pretty familiar with that area.  Have you made any plans so far?  Accommodations range from entire homes to condos to upscale hotels or more budget-conscious hotels.  What are you looking for?  Similarly, there is a wide range of golf courses, and prices, and lots of choices for dining.  Give me a bit of guidance, and I'll help you in any way I can.

These are the courses I plan to play. I don't think dormie is in the area, but I'd make a day trip. No plans beyond the slate of courses.

Pinehurst (No.2)
Pine Needles Lodge & GC
Linville GC
Tobacco Road GC
The Dormie Club
Pinehurst Resort (No.8)

To play at PH #2 and #8, you may need to stay at the Pinehurst Resort, or at one of very few other hotels that can book you there.  You should check out the Pinecrest Hotel..  If you stay at Pinehurst Resort, most of their packages will put you on the Pinehurst courses.  That's not a hardship, they're all pretty good, #4 and #9 are my other favorites.  I haven't played Linville, so won't comment.  The Dormie Club is only 3 or 4 miles from downtown Pinehurst, and very much worth playing.  I really enjoy Tobacco Road, its quirky but fun, and a real good challenge.  My other favorites in the area are Midpines, across the street from Pine Needles, MidSouth and Talamore (my home courses there).  Another great place to play, at a bargain price, is the Southern Pines Golf Club.

I suggest you check things out a little further, especially as far as where you'll want to stay.  I know that Talamore Resort can book you on almost all of the courses (not #2) and offer lodging in 2 and 3-bedroom condos.  Many of the hotels in the area can do pretty much the same.  Of course I'm biased, I own one of the Talamore condos.

Dormie is fairly close to Pinehurst. As close if not closer to Pinehurst than Tobacco Road. Linville is probably, at least, three hours from Pinehurse. It is up in the Mountains, not far from Grandfather Mountain.

    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
    • No disrespect felt, but since you did apologize you can disrespect once in the future with no guilt.
    • So do a few thousand others. 😉 Something like 14 players born in any year will have PGA Tour status for 3+ years. What drew you to this? He's not from where you live, right? Family friend?
