So Halloween is coming up. I ask the question what are your favorite, lets say top 5 scary/horror movies?

In no particular order (and giving a few more than 5):

Stephen King's IT

Night Of The Living Dead (the original in black and white, makes it even more eerie)

Prince of Darkness

The Strangers (has an element of realism as in, it could actually happen)

House of 1000 Corpses

Nightmare On Elm Street

White Noise

Rosemary's Baby

Hellraiser

Alien/Aliens

The Shining

Poltergeist

My wife and I love scary movies and I buy at least one new one on dvd each year.  She is all excited because it is scary movie month.  Ha-ha.

Right now, I'd say The Exorcist, The Shining, Rosemary's Baby, Room 1408 and Sinister. I enjoy getting the beejesus scared out of me.

Alien, the Exorcist, Jaws, The Omen, The Birds. Fantastic Voyage scared me but I was young when I saw it and the antibody attack scene terrified me.

I'm not a big fan of horror movies, but here's mine:

Aliens

Evil Dead (an old classic low-budget one you really need to see)

The Shining

Psycho

Misery? Silence of the Lambs? Jaws? I guess I do like me some "horror" movies!

Since I don't enjoy horror movies, I thought it'd be fun to include my (unconventional) list:

  1. Jaws
  2. Scream (to this day, one of the only horror movies I have ever enjoyed watching)
  3. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (watch this with a 10-year-old and tell me it's not scary as hell)
  4. Silence of the Lambs
  5. Aliens

I couldn't even come up with a fifth.

EDIT: Duh.  Aliens.  Duh.

If I had to pick my top 5 in no particular order

Chucky (happen to turn it on when I was like 8 years old. Traumatizing!)
Aliens (I love these movies now, but scary as hell when I was younger)

Poltergeist (another movie watched when I was younger)
Halloween
Sixth Sense
