First they stopped waiving fees, then they cut back on the rewards program, and now they've decided to ruin the navigability of the site. I can understand the first two decisions, they are a business after all. But now they're just making it tougher to find tee time you're looking for. No more "regions", no more easy to read grid of tee times and prices, just a garbled mess where I have to click back and forth between pages to see everything that's out there. I'm done

It's always interesting for me to see the feedback people have on new websites.  I didn't spend much time on GolfNow but felt the old site looked "primitive" by current website standards.  I can also see how someone like you who used the site often could be disappointed by the new design as it sacrificed some functionality to make it more visually appealing.

I'm guessing part of the reason for this design change was to make it responsive so it can be viewed on tablets and cell phones and not force people to download their app.

I used the desktop version of the site on my phone often with little issues. I feel the new site is even harder for phone use because I can't click back and forth through pages as quickly as on a PC.

It often seems to me that some of this is change for change's sake. Maybe the new site will grow on people with time, but I don't like it right now and am glad I rarely have occasion to use it.

The title of the thread is "New golfnow layout ..." so I'm guessing he means that he likes the new layout better than the old one.

 I was curious what about the new site he liked better, guess I should have been more specific.

LOL.

I don't really have a strong opinion because I didn't use the old one that much ... however, I tend to agree with you that this new one isn't all that bad.  I seem to remember that the old one would just list every tee time for the day in one big grid.  So I had to scroll through several pages of tee times if I wanted to check options at multiple times during the day.  Now it appears as though it just lists each course once with a time range available and the lowest price.  That seems like it would be a lot quicker and simpler to navigate through.

Again though, I rarely used it before, and likely won't start now, so my opinion isn't strong.

I find it much more modern looking and easy to navigate.

I don't despise the layout nearly as much as I despise the recent change at the Yahoo homepage. When I search I can refine it to View by Tee Times rather than Courses and set it to a 50 mile radius. However, it doesn't remember those settings so each time I do a search I have to make those changes manually again which is tedious. It also seems to misfire when I submit the search at times.

In general I just don't like the change to convert everything over to being tablet/phone friendly. I much prefer using a desktop to do things. I guess I am in the minority there.

Maybe it's just the area I live in, but I find that golfnow is more expensive than going straight to any course's website for booking tee times.  The courses usually have far better discounts now that they use dynamic pricing.

The new one is growing on me, but I much prefer the old one.

You're not in the minority yet but desktop computers are losing ground quickly to tablets and smart phones.  Businesses are moving to responsive websites that look good on all of the platforms.

I've been thinking the same thing.  For the courses I play on the regular, they send out emails that beat GolfNow prices all the time...

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
