Hate the ugly shoes.. Just a feeling and an opinion of mine..  Now did he actually play with these?

He's worn them maybe half of the time in tournaments since Kapalua.  He's played very well too ... Winning in Abu Dhabi and top of the leaderboard this week as well.

I'm happy for him.. They are still some of the ugliest things I have seen in a long time though :)

The high tops are actually functional and can prevent ankle rolling. The pants on the other hand.....

The shoes kind of look like the old, old, old, did I say old, ancient Reeboks. I can see the young whippersnappers liking them or Fowler enough to copy him, Fowler can carry that look off because he's thin, but it's not a good look for your typical male middle age demographic, but then, none of Fowler's ensembles are - especially the all orange which reminds some of a prison jumpsuit. Like Billy Joel said, "You can't dress trashy till you spend a lot of money".

Hmmm ... you must be in your early 40's. :-P

Payne Stewart's throwback look never caught on, so I don't think we should worry much about this either.

Hold it, hold it, hold it I still have 12 days till you can use that F word to describe me lol.  It may have been late grade school/early middle school I remember the look was long gone by the time I hit high school.  Maybe in a few years they'll be wearing combat boots and flannel...there are a few guys on the tour that could probably pull off the Grunge look.

Lol nope. If your ankle is gonna roll, high tops won't prevent that. You'd need to fully tape your ankle to get a measure of prevention for rolling.

Yeah the kids in my school have been wearing the joggers going on three years now.

I don't do skinny jeans but slim fit pants/jeans on a fit guy look great, as does a slim fit suit and trust me the ladies appreciate that look.

I have a few slim fit suits, and they do look good, but they're a pain in the ass when you gotta take a piss.

Kinda wish that Rodney Dangerfeild movie was a true story, I'd probably buy his stuff. :-P

Plus, arnt u supposed to roll your ankles during the golf swing? I cant even hit balls in high tops or boots. Tried once in the sim at golf store and nearly killed my silly self. Ive had a bad lower body in my swing over the years. Improving my footwork has probably been the biggest improvement in my game.

I wonder if high tops put just a tad more stress on your lead knee? Guess it depends on how tightly they're tied.

The look is growing on me.  He's about the only being on earth that can pull it off though. :P

The pants just look insane to me. I don't know why you'd want to feel constricted around the ankles. The shoes just look ugly, though not solely because they're high tops.

Apparently, the combo have created a tendency for him to hit fades he doesn't want to hit ... bad juju. NOW I take that back -- he is not wearing that combo today.. Go back to it, Rickie, it worked in Dubai.

I'm such a fashion #@^$!*, I can't even get to the point of wearing a white belt - which seems to be standard issue among golfers. Skinny jeans on an old guy like me - not a chance.

As far as trying to keep up with popular fashion, I gave up on that when the kids started wearing bell bottoms and hip huggers again. They should have learned from our mistakes 40 years ago.

I'm with NTG, the shoes are pretty bad, but what is with those freakin' pant cuffs???

Looks like he's getting ready to ride his bicycle.

They are called "joggers" and are hideous.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
