What do you guys think is the best song ever? Not your favorite, what you think is the best. For instance my favorite song is Our Revolution by a band called Halifax but that doesn't hold a candle to Stairway to Heaven in terms of how good it is.

My choice is "More than a Feeling" by Boston.

Whats yours?

Wow...I'm a sort of music buff and there is really no way to answer that question. I'd have to go by genre at least to try and narrow it down. I can't even pick my favorite song, because I go through so many phases in my listening week by week. If you put a gun to my head and said what's the greatest song ever...I'd just let you shoot me.

Lately one of my favorites has been Ben Folds Five - Underground

I do give my props to Boston's first album as one of the greatest debuts ever. The guitar and production on all the tracks is great. To bad the rest of their stuff was mediocre at best.

But really, you asked an impossible question.

Good topic :)

It's pretty difficult though since I your personal tastes influence your choice so much. For instance, my favorite song of all time would be Polar Opposites by Modest Mouse, but I would never think that would be the best of all time. So basing songs on the influence they had, I would go with a few. Sorry I can't narrow it down to just one. I will go with..... Imagine - John Lennon Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Hotel California - Eagles

Holy moly I have no idea how to answer this...

I may not be able to narrow my greatest song down to one single track... but if I were to make a list of the greatest songs , it would include:

Freebird - Lynard Skynard

Black - Pearl Jam (or Last Kiss)

Anything by Pink Floyd (Comfortably Numb if I have to name a song)

Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Cemetery Gates - Pantera (
My Immortal - Evanescence (don't ask)

Best I've Ever Had - Vertical Horizon

Anything from Matchbox 20 (Leave or anything from Yourself or Someone Like You)

Anything from Nickleback (Anything from Silver Side-Up or any other CD)

--

OK, as you can see... my list will go on forever...

I'll let someone else pick it up from here

"Simple Man" by Lynard Skynard

"Cat's in the Cradle" (whoever made the original one) "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen and others, but I'll leave it at that.

"Cat's in the Cradle" (whoever made the original one)

That would be Harry Chapin, whose other great songs include "Flowers are Red," "Better Place to Be," and "Circle."

Here are the songs rated 5-star on my iTunes by artist. (I know, it's sad that I rate my music.) Bob Dylan: Not Dark Yet, Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, Don't Think Twice (It's All Right) Bruce Springsteen: Thunder Road, Racing in the Street, The Promise, Independence Day, Stolen Car, Iceman, 4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy), New York City Serenade, The River Dan Fogelberg: The Reach Don McLean: Crossroads The Eagles: The Last Resort, Desperado Elton John: Your Song Jeff Buckley: Hallelujah Otis Redding: (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay Simon and Garfunkel: The Boxer, The Only Living Boy in New York Paul Simon (alone): American Tune Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes (I'm going to their Jan. 5 concert!): Light Don't Shine Of those, I would pick the following as my absolute favorites: Racing in the Street, The Promise, 4th of July Asbury Park, The Only Living Boy in New York, American Tune

A Tribe Called Quest - Check the Rhime

It's rare to find an ATCQ fan these days... people only know this new pseudo-rap they play on the radio.

The Low End Theory is an excellent album.

It Aint Hard to Tell brings back so many memories for me. The time period of rap when practically everything was great. Being in High School. Causing trouble. Oh what fun... Plus the beat/song is out of control.

As far as listen ability to a full album goes, The Low End Theory is my all-time favorite. Hands down. Phife is my favorite rapper too. That's why my choice in song from that album. He's fantastic! If it's been a while, give it a listen. Or even if it hasn't been a while...

That's so true. I was a huge hip/hop fan when it was great. Now it's mostly garbage. There are a few exceptions like Eminem, D12 and a few others.

What a great topic though. Here are the ones I would put in my ipod if I had to make a list: Billy Idol: Rebel Yell The Who: Babba O'Riley or Behind Blue Eyes Big and Rich: Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy Kenny Rogers: Coward of the County Eminem: Lose Yourself Beastie Boys: Paul Revere Don McLean: American Pie Billy Joel: Scenes From an Itallian Resturant or Piano Man Jimmy Buffett: Margarittaville or Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog: Nothing But A G Thing

I agree i have a sister who is 13 and loves today's rap and i stare at her like she has 3 heads. Today's rap is all about the guy's rims and how street he is. If you have to say you're street in your rap, you're not street. She says that Soljua Boy(or however you spell that ridiculous thing) is the best rapper ever i tell her to listen to Wu-Tang and she asks who they are. Classic rap like the Wu, NWA, and Snoop and Dre are where its at.

Soulja Boy makes me want to stab myself in the ear with something sharp. Every member of WuTang has better skills than that punk. Todays rappers can't compare to NAS, Tupac, LL and the greats.

Billy Idol: Rebel Yell

I'm more of a White Wedding guy myself. I used to love that video. As for the Who, yeah, Baba O'Riley is pretty great. Beastie Boys would have to be Pass the Mic or The Maestro (both from Check Your Head album), again, sentimental value.

I actually like that Soulja Boy song. The only thing rap these days is good for is a fun beat to listen to, and, that's got a fun beat. Try Rich Boy - Throw Some D's on it, for another new gem. But I rarely listen to rap radio or watch Rap City anymore. Hell, MTV doesn't even have a rap show...

Hehe, back on a serious note... don't forget Tool (Lateralus), A Perfect Circle (Mer De Norms), and Matchbox 20 (Mad Season or Yourself or Someone Like You). I have over 3400 songs on my playlist, I'll list more as they come on, lol.

    • I agree with @pganapathy about removing some clubs. I would recommend removing the 2, 3, 4 and 5 irons for now. Play with Driver 3W 5W 3H 5H 6 iron 7 iron 8 iron 9 iron PW ( you don’t have listed) 52 56 Putter Th 60 wedge can be difficult for new players, but you could keep that If your 3H is adjustable, increased the loft to be more like a 4H. Play with these on course and see if you can get a feel of the actual yardages for each club and especially the gaps between them. It may take 10 or more rounds. A par 3 course is helpful for determining the gaps in the irons and some woods too. A device like a Shot Scope H4 can really help give you your actual yardage on course.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
