Visiting from Australia soon and looking for a course or two to play around SFO.
Does this course merit playing or are there others better. Non member of course.
“I gave this course a 4.5 rating because the practice area is big and very well kept. The course is very well kept as well, with the exception of some low areas don't drain well so there will be excess water. ( not standing water but ground very soft) The pin locations are beyond challenging at times. usually around 8-12 feet from an edge with a bunker right there, or if they are nice the pin...” --KyleAnthony
“We played this course en route back to SFO after a week at Monterey. Nice easy way to finish with a not very difficult test. Still a fair test - but I think the slope was about 126 from the middle tees.
“Played here for the first time on Memorial day (5/26/14). My buddy had a free pass and some other discount, so we split one discounted green fee $44/each. The guy we played with paid full price (holiday rate) at $160. We didn't tell him how much we paid, he was too nice of a guy lol. From the Blue tees: 6,270 yards, 70.7/131.
Anyway...was really impressed with the staff. Everyone was...” --BENtSwing
“Brookside is a public course that contains has two competitive tracks. Koiner is a long and challenging track where lots of tournaments are held. E O Nay is a shorter but narrower track for those who want to challenge their short games with lots of elevated greens.
The scenery is beautiful and restful. It is a great place to go and have a nice challenging round in a relaxing setting in...” --Lihu
Went and played Tierra this past saturday (5/11/13). Had a great time. Wonderful views from all over the course! It was certainly a challenge, but not so much that it took away form the experience. Looking forward to going back and playing it again some time soon!
It was the most beautiful course. The views were unreal. Playing where so much golf history has taken place was awesome. Price is high, but think about how much crap you spend $500 on in a year. I will go again with my father in a few years. Then, I will take my son when he is old enough. If I lived within driving distance, I would play it once a year. ...” --bamadoc
Great track. Fairways were in great shape. Unfortunately the greens had been aeratied recently, so the greens weren't in the best shape, but overall the course was VERY nice. Don't think I'll be paying the $178 to play on a weekend, but for $25 on my birthday, I'll be back next year.
Worth a look at, well priced and great facilities. These also include well kept greens and fairways. The course has an old feel to it with narrow fairways and fast greens. Elevated slopes make for some interesting lies and shots. Overall a great course for the price.
I live just down the street from Rancho San Joaquin, so this is where I practice 99% of the time... And will play twilight rounds here too. I try to avoid playing too much golf here as the conditions are typically poor, and the pace of play is sloooooow.
The golf course is owned and operated by American Golf. And the 18 hole course, unfortunately takes a back seat to...” --Beachcomber
