Pros: Comfortable, cool in hot weather, nice back pocket feature, fit remained after washing.
This is the second part of my review of IJP - Ian Poulter Design Clothing, the New Tech Golf Short. The description states, "These technical shorts are made from a comfortable, lightweight, water repellent, breathable stretch fabric. Complete with discreet back pockets, Poulter side splits and IJP embroidered logo." I was a little leery of trying shorts designed by a slim, young Englishman to fit my middle aged body, but my fear was relieved once I tried the short on.
Fit - The fit was excellent, not too tight or loose at the waist. The legs had plenty of room and moved with me during my swing and when I was crouched placing my ball. There are slits on the outside seam at the bottom. They never bunched up or felt uncomfortable. The material does stretch, but does not feel like it does, which is elegant in my opinion.
Performance - I wore them on a hot 90F, humid day. I do sweat a lot and the shorts never felt clammy or heavy and dried quickly.
Features - The best feature of the shorts is the large rear pockets. The large opening makes it very easy to put your scorecard with holder and AimPoint chart in and out without catching (see below). And NO buttons! I can't stand buttons on pant pockets, especially for golf pants.. Who thought that was a good idea? All buttons do is catch your scorecard and make you need two hands to put your card away. I keep my wallet in my front pocket anyway.
Colors - The New Tech shorts come in solid colors, white, black, royal blue and some pinky salmon color that I am real glad they didn't send me.
Care - The shorts are shown above after one washing. As can be seen, they did not wrinkle, even when left in the laundry basket on a humid day. The fit remained the same, which I really like.
Overall - These are great shorts. They are a bit pricey, but perform very well and the pockets are great.
