Pros: Feel, Feedback
Cons: Not Much
I got the MP 58's with the KBS Tour shaft S-flex 4-PW about two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier!
I am probably at the top end of handicappers who should be using these clubs, but I've always played forged cavity backs and wanted to play into clubs rather than settle for clubs that go straight and offer no feedback. After a couple rounds and some range work, I'm very happy with these clubs.
Go get fitted! There's so many different options for shafts its worth going to a serious club fitter. Based on the static fitting (height/wrist to floor/ handsize) I would have gone with Dynamic Golds, but after comparing the Project X, DG, and KBS, there was a huge difference in response and KBS were the best for me.
When I came down to it, I had my mind set on MP 58's or AP2s. The AP2's are nice clubs, but they are very shinny on the face which bothered me & while they are forgiving, they don't give any feeback. In fact, they felt alot like my Hogans. The 58's however, feel solid & I know exactly where I hit the ball on the clubface without looking. Though I don't have them dialed in after 2 rounds and range work, I found the distance very similar on perfect shots and mis-hits. And when you it them pure, they sing!
They are expensive--I did get a discount through my club--but they are only a few bucks more than AP2's and are much more fun.
