Pros: Look great, great feedback, good workability, decent forgiveness, very accurate
Cons: For the mid to lower handicapper, none
I shopped around a bunch of sets of Irons and decided on these. I won an auction on E-bay for less than $400 shipped. This is my first time in a forged club. I broke into single digits this summer after starting to play better after some work on my swing. I figured that now was time for a forged club. At the same time, I was a bit hesitant because I feared they would be very difficult to hit and that I would be back into my Ping Eye 3 O-size Irons very quickly.
The first thing about them is how great they look. They are really beautiful. They have that slim look and feel that speaks of a quality forged players iron. There is no off-set to speak of. You hold it in your hands and you want to square it up.
The feel is absolutely outstanding. When you really flush one, it is marvelous, an absolute joy. Mis-hits are equally rough on the hands. At the same time though, they are surprisingly forgiving on slightly off-center mis-hits. You can really tell the difference in a good swing and a bad swing, yet, you are not totally penalized. This is the piece that I was really looking for in an iron.
They are also exremely accurate. I used to get really frustrated with my Ping irons because I would make a good swing and get different results, sometimes short of the green, sometimes long. But not with these irons, you can really feel that you get out of them exactly what you put in. My ball flight is a little lower now, but it's exactly what I was looking for.
All in all, I think I made a great purchase... Great set of players irons, great price, and a great looking and feeling club. I will not be putting the Pings back in the bag any time soon.
