Pros: Varying design and difficulty, good conditions

One of the unique characteristics of this course is the difference between the front and the back 9 holes. The front feels like a prairie setting, with wide fairways and minimal trees. The back is set in a heavily wooded area, has more elevation challenges, and narrower fairways. They feel like completely different courses; as they were designed to.

The front 9 felt easier than the back 9, but I think it also played a bit longer to compensate (I don't have my scorecard and can't verify the numbers) and the lack of protective trees let the wind have a presence that it couldn't on the back 9. Regardless, the course is definitely a challenge, with fairway bunkers, fast greens, and the back 9 ready to eat up bad shots. There isn't much water, but there were a couple of ponds and a couple small creek ravines to be avoided.

The greens were very quick. We played in late July and the greens were alive and well and playing very quickly. On two separate holes a tricky hole location left my scramble partner and I with a difficult downhill putt. Both times we both ran the ball way past the hole. The bunkers were also in good shape, green-side and in the fairway. Mid-firm sand which wasn't fluffy, but not firm.

Green fees are definitely on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. And actually the prices aren't bad for a resort course, it's definitely one of the cheaper resort courses in the area.

The concession stand is conveniently located between the 9th and 10th holes right along the cart path, so you easily stop if you are so inclined. The service was quick and prompt.

I loved the course. It's a fun, scenic experience.
