Otterkill is a private golf club, named after the stream that meanders through the course, which caters to those who are only interested in golf (no swimming, tennis etc). Otterkill is a William F Mitchell design that opened in 1957. It is tough to make a low score here, but the course is not unduly harsh to the bogey golfer. The course measures more than 6,900 yards from the tips, but there are four sets of tees to accomodate players of all skill levels. The fairways are tight and most holes have fairway and greenside bunkers. Water comes in to play on eight holes. All 4 par 3's play over 170 from the middle tee boxes. The two toughest are # 5 a dogleg left that requires a carries over water on both the tee shot and the apporach shot, and #15 a testing par 4 that requires a precise approach to a green protected by water front and right, sand on both sides and OB left. The course is usually in excellent condition and is the best value in the area.
