Best ball for the price
Pros: Spin, distance
When it comes to golf balls, the Burner Tour, IMO, gives the most bang for the buck. I used to give that title to the Top Flite Gamer v2 at $20/doz, but the Burner Tour offers better performance at $22/doz. I was originally very disappointed that TaylorMade was discontinuing and replacing the Burner TP LDP because I loved that ball. But this replacement, The Burner Tour, surpasses its predecessor, IMO.
This is the spiniest mid-level ball I've tried. I don't have great ball striking overall but do have decent mid and full wedge shots. Stopping this ball with a wedge is no problem. If I put more than a 1/2 swing on this ball with my wedge, then it will stop within 5 feet pretty much every time if I hit it correctly. I've even found 40 yards pitches in their own pitch marks and many other approach shots within 3 feet of their pitch marks. I even get my 9-iron to stop quickly. I have not played another ball at less than $30/doz that stopped as quickly on solid wedge and short iron shots. You probably won't back it up, but it'll obey when you need it to stop.
This is also close to being the longest ball I've tried. I've hit some of my longer drives and hybrid shots with it. It's not the longest 3-piece ball I've ever played, but it's probably the second longest.
Feel-wise, I found it to be unexpectedly soft off the driver and irons. It's a pleasing ball to hit solidly. It also has a reasonably soft sound off the putter. Not urethane soft, but not clicky.
They do a decent job resisting scuffing. It'll scuff after a solid wedge approach shot, but not badly. You'll see a scuff and some missing material, but you probably won't shred the cover. I've put a few solid shots on a ball and still had it be playable. It's decently durable, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Overall, best mid-priced ball I've played and the best bang for the buck as well.
