Pros: Interesting layout spread out back in the woods. Challenging layout with no housing around.
Cons: Not walker friendly at all. During the summer, the greens were dead and had huge bare spots
I played The Pit twice this summer, and overall it was very enjoyable. It's a challenging course with small greens and a great mix of open and tight fairways. The staff was friendly and we had a great time out at the course. Unfortunately with the mix of rain and extreme heat this summer, all the greens that weren't Bermuda were dead in the area, and The Pit was no exception. The greens did get progressively better on the back 9, and there was evidence that they were working on them everywhere. The 2nd time we played, they were considerably better than early in the season.
Even with the greens in bad shape, The Pit was a great course to play. It's challenging enough to keep the scratch golfer interested, but not so difficult that the mid handicapper gets irritated on the course.
