  1. runnbike added a post in a topic Callaway Hex Black Tour vs. Hex Black "Practice"

I use the Penta practice as well for everyday golf.  Foolish not to @ $25/dz.

As far as meeting all technical specs, the 'practice' or circle P (Callaway) balls are no different than '1st quality' balls.  The only issue is cosmetic and it neither impacts performance nor technical acceptance of the ball.  Please excuse me if I recall this backwards but I looked it up in the rules awhile back and practice balls are allowed in tournaments unless expressly banned by that specific tournament.  Obviously you just play a 1st quality ball and not worry whatsoever.

X-outs are a completely different animal.  By rule, these DO NOT pass technical specification.  The out of spec may be very slight and you may never tell the difference - but something didn't pass.  Probably OK for everyday use but w/ practice balls at the same price why even bother............
