We cannot judge him on this. No one here has been at that level and dealt with the media the way he has. Cameramen, in general, have seem to be cast as the poor sole just trying to make a living, lately. Look at the papparazzi...Now I know we cant compare them to golf camera people, but they both annoy the people they make money on. I probably would have done the same thing if I was trying to play my best.

I think it was somewhat understandable... I would be pissed too. The only problem I have with Tiger is when he drops F-bombs and GDs just for missing putts and hitting poor shots... it really is unnecessary. An occaisional slip is one thing, but Tiger does it a lot... but as I said this time I think it was excusable.

I agree with Lemay on this. I would have gotten a little aggrevated with that guy as well. I know that Tiger is in the public eye and should carry himself as a professional but he is playing for a lot of money and every shot counts. Some jerk taking a picture during his downswing could cost him a tournament.

personally, i think tiger is making an excuse for himself. a camera going off shouldn't bother the deep concentration of a pro golfer. we amateurs put up with people talking golfers, birds chirping, cars travelling by etc. also it only seems only mr woods cannot deal with it. i've seen numerous times in the last 12 months where he has pulled out of his swing because of this reason.

I think the actions of the cameramen has been ridiculous. They are definitely out of line. I know, with what was/is at stake every week, if that happened to me....I would snap.

Basically, I don't have a problem with the expletives. He's not the only one that uses them on a golf course....I'm pretty sure of that. The breaking neck thing....may have been a little out of line but....I'm pretty sure that Tiger is not going to go out and break somebodies neck.

Anyway.....do we really need more pictures of Tiger? If we do....set up a photo session with him.....

I agree. I think this one is excusable and I would have done the same thing. It probably gets very frustrating having all that commotion going on around you all the time. It is probably even more frustrating when you are not winning. He doesnt need throw out the expletives as often as he does though. He is a role-model for kids and he seems to openly accept that role, so I doubt that using language like the f-bomb and GD after bad shots qualifies as acceptable role model behavior.

''Jackass!'' he yelled as he dropped a hand off his follow-through and that usually effortless, smooth swing suddenly seized and turned into something ugly. Soon Woods was looking around in the general vicinity of the camera's noise, angrily searching for an offending shutter bug to squash.

If this had been the end of it I would say Tiger was totally in the right. However, after finishing the hole and beginning his walk to the next tee he goes on to say:

''The next time a photographer shoots an [expletive] picture,'' Woods warned, ``I'm going to break his [expletive] neck.''

I can't think of any other golfer that would be given a pass for this. It wasn't in the heat of the moment - he should have had plenty of time to cool down. Do you guys really think it was fine for him to say that? Would it be ok for anyone else?

I don't blame Tiger for getting pissed. Photographers from the media know the rules - you can't snap pictures during the golfer's swing. This is Tiger's "job". If someone came to my place of work, stood in my cubicle and let out a high-pitched shriek all day, it'd make it hard to get my work done.

Someone said earlier that we amateurs deal with birds chirping, other people talking, etc during our golf swing, so what's the big deal? I don't think you can compare your round of golf with Tiger's until you actually play for a million bucks against the top players of the world in front of a global TV audience. I'm no expert, but my bet is it's a lot different than playing for $20 against your buddies at the local muni.

How else are you going to the picture of Tiger swinging? The majority of people don't want to see pictures of Tiger just standing around. Also, the comparison to the paparazzi is not even close. I agree with you on the paparazzi who camp out and harass the "stars" for the various supermarket magazines but how do you know golf photographers "annoy the people they make money on?" Have you hung out inside the ropes with any golf photographers? I have and those guys work hard to get the pictures you get to enjoy seeing in the papers and online. The PGA Tour and the individual tournaments don't let just any clown with a point & shoot in to be a photographer. These guys are pros at what they do. Now that is not to say that you

occasionally get some bad apples. Even the NBC guys were saying they were seeing guys out there who were not the "regulars." And with the equipment they use, their shutters are pretty quiet and they are actually pretty far away most of the time from the players. They use some pretty big zoom lens to get those pictures.

That "jerk" didn't miss a bunch of putts. Tiger did.

Again, how are the actions of the cameramen ridiculous and out of line? It's a shutter click, not an air horn. Threating bodily harm to another person is a pretty big deal.

I agree with you as far as customers go but this was one of the professional photographers that is in question.

It is bad enough golfers fans who don't know what etiquette is, but now they have to put up with camera men that can't follow the rules? And Woods is not the only golfer that swears after bad shots or distractions. I have no problem with what he did or what he said, and in the end he blamed himself for not winning, not the photographer.

He blamed himself

and the photographer. I still say that getting mad right after the incident and calling the guy a "jackass" is not too out of line, but the threats he made a good bit afterwards are unacceptable.

This time the photog was only a few yards away, they know better than to take pics in the middle of a swing, therefore he was "out of line" by taking the pic in the middle of his swing.

Tiger was out of line with his comments towards the photog, and if you saw his interview after it sure seemed to me like he blamed himself more than anything for loosing the tournament. I am not in anyway defending Tigers actions, but I can see why he reacted the way he did. These people inside the ropes should be held accountable, if it wasn't for players like Tiger Woods they wouldn't have the job in the first place.

      Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.

      Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group.       I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
