Hi, I am thinking bout going to the open championship. I have a few questions to ask though.

1. Does anyone have any advice on accomodation? I would have to stay over and I understand that Travel Inns and lodges get pretty booked up.

2. Can I take my mobile phone in and use it as a camera/video camera or is it only the press that are allowed cameras as I have seen some people use them to take vids on youtube.

Cheers,

I think you can only take Cameras during the practise rounds. I'm pretty sure the people who are doing it On youtube are really not allowed to do that.

I'm unsure about accommodation but please, PLEASE leave your cameras and mobiles at home, it causes aggravation to the players and you run the risk of having your items confiscated by marshalls.

Yer wouldn't want tiger to run after me and break my neck as he said he would if someone took a pic in his swing.

I can't think of anything worse than watching someone in contention and my phone going off or something, especially if it was in their swing and they o.b.'d their shot, that would be awful.

Hi, I am thinking bout going to the open championship. I have a few questions to ask though.

when i went to the buick invitational, you had to check in your phone at the entrance. im assuming it will be the same for you, but admittadely I just snuck it in, not for pictures, just convenience of not having to stand in line to get my phone after, just dont distract by talking on the phone, thats their main concern.

one piece of advice - GO EARLY!

My parents were at St. Andrews in 2000 and got up at 7:00am, turned on the tv to get the weather and they showed a picture of St. Andrews town - black with people! So get there early!

Go to a practice day - see your favourites. It does say on the Open website that cameras/phone are not permitted at all - but you could probably get away with it on the practice day. You'll know where to watch/view and get a feel for the course. Then any of the 4 days - even just one - you can soak up the Open atmosphere.

Particularly since he didn't make the cut, right?
