single digit caps, ever just lose it for a round??

I've worked very hard to get to where I am, currently a 7, in the beginning horrible rounds were commonplace, but then you get to a point where you feel that you've learned enough to get by with a decent score even on a bad day. Well today, that just did not happen, nothing was working right except the driver, which was OK. Couldn't hit greens, couldn't hit irons at all, didn't make any putts, ended up with a 92. I guess it's just the nature of the game, and it's early in the season. But have any other people here just lost it, when they really thought that the 90's were a thing of the past?

yes. ill lose it every once in a while. Just this past month, I turned in a 90. 38 putts, 4 hit fairways. those are bad numbers. things just werent going well. Everyone has there bad days. i couldnt do anything right, and i cant tell you what it was, because i have no clue what was off.

Last year during a high school tournament, I shot 49 on my frist nine. Luckily, I was able to keep it in the 80's by putting up a 39 on the back.

I do have days where everything goes to the dogs and i shoot 86,87. Recently, I have gotten better at saving rounds by posting a good back nine. People are going to have many bad days, some bad days will just be worse than others.

If and when it happens its usually because I'm not familar with a course (aka its my first time playing it, or I haven't played it in many years). Knowing where to drive it, how receptive the the greens are, and reading the greens speed and break.

When I was a 6 hdcp I was playing in a junior tournament and shot 88. That was a horrible day and I hated my life, haha. This was following a week of constant play though, some days consisted of 36 holes or more...

Played myself right into a slump for about a week. Safe to say my clubs knew who was boss but only listened to me after I took a week long break.

See, shooting an 88 may be bad for you, but lots of people here would die for an 88.

Sure do. In a 2 day medal play tournament last summer, I was in the top 5 after day 1. Something went very wrong in round 2. I bogeyed #1, quintuple bogeyed #2. It all went downhill from there. I posted an 87. I never for one moment believed I could get my round back after #2. I was just trying to survive.

Absolutely. Hit my scorecards button below. I'm the king of inconsistency. Today I played like the game was easy. Wind messes with me more than anything. Try as I might to allow for wind, taking more or less club I just can't seem to get it right. Don't fret. Work hard. YOu've hit all the shots before, you'll hit them again.

There couldn't be a post more true than this one after today's round. I played a course I haven't played in awhile with alot of hills and slopes. I shot an 83 and felt like I had never hit an iron before in my life. Only thing that worked was the driver. Totally Demoralizing. Hello Monday range.

I don't play near as much as I use to, but when I shoot 80, it feels like 100. The better you get, the more consistent you get, so that even on a off day you can still score effectively. I've had rounds where I couldn't hit more than 4 greens in regulation, and still shoot around par. Part of that is having a good short game, but it also takes mental toughness. I think that's why Tiger stands out so much . He is so much better mentally than the others. Even when he's struggling with his swing, his mental toughness won't allow him to play bad.

My hadicap says 3 , but I would say its closer to scratch when the season gets going, in the middle of the season I am challenging par every round,

If i shoot in the 80s it feels like my world is collapsing

I do want to go out and shoot 100 again tho, just to remember what it feels like

Quite honestly, no. If my swing is off, I revert to a 3/4 "punchy" swing that I know will keep the ball in play. If my putting or short game is off, I play different kinds of shots or, well, my putting is never off so badly that i "lose it." If my driving is off, worst case I'll use my 3W, but usually I can just figure it out.

Yeah for sure. But that comes more from me giving up on the round and not trying, than from literally hitting every shot badly. Recently I've gotten a LOT better at coming back strong on the second 9 after a bad first 9. My rounds pretty much used to be dictated by how I played the first 3 holes. Now I can post an awful first 9 and go 2 or 3 under par on the second 9 if I keep my head in it.

I just got back from Myrtle Beach - 1st few rounds of the year but I went 88 then 75 the next day... Losing it for a day is easy... timing gets out of whack and you chase the ball around for a day...

      Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.

      Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
