Alrighty then...here is another tough one for you Men. If you are the next Chairman of the Masters, would you let a woman compete in the Masters?

I say No. I can understand that women have all the rights in the world but we guys just have to have some things for ourself.

I can hear all the women activest screaming down the door now

What is your call people?

Nothing in the invitation criteria says anything about male or female. If a woman won, say, the US Amateur, I bet she'd get an invite to The Masters, same as a man would.

The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the ones based on world ranking. If a woman were to play well in enough in a men's event such that a man posting the same scores would get world rankings points, does she get onto the OWGR?

I honestly believe that this is a possibility. I think that somewhere down the line there will be a Bubba Watson of the LPGA who hits it far enough to compete with men. Then they just play their way in. . . .

like Colin Montgomerie could not. . . he just bitches

Well Ochoa is averaging 279.6 off the tee in average distance on LPGA.com.

That would place her in T116 position on the PGA Tour this season - and put her just point-one behind one Jim Furyk (2007) and just 0.8 yards behind one Zach Johnson (2007)

I would love to see her win everything on the womens tour and qualify for a mens major. The Masters would require something special to qualify - but she has a much bigger chance than a certain Ms. Wie.

I don't think it will work.

Should women be invited to become members of the Augusta National Club- yes, ..this is currently against the club's policy.

Should women be invited to play in a man's event- no, they are not long enough and don't have the stamina to compete over 4 rounds. It works the other way, should men be allowed to enter womens' tournaments?-no, we just have to accept that men and women are biologically and physically different- there's no shame in that.

Since the end of March, I believe there's only two tournaments where they don't play four rounds. That's why I'm confused why you don't believe they could play four rounds.

Ditto. That's what I think too. I don't think they're going to go out of their way to invite people, but I remember the talk when Michelle Wie was playing the U.S. Men's Amateur. Augusta would have no choice but to invite her, and I think they would. What have they got to lose? If they invite her, no big deal. Women play at Augusta all the time, they can say (wives, friends, guests). If they don't invite her, wow would they be in a shitstorm. So, they'd invite her.

The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the ones based on world ranking. If a woman were to play well in enough in a men's event such that a man posting the same scores would get world rankings points, does she get onto the OWGR?

Yes, but she'd either have to basically win an event OR continue to play (and play well) in several events in order to get enough OWGR points. The guys compete in 15-25 events per year with OWGR points, after all. One or two events isn't likely to get a gal enough points to wind up in the top 50.

Should women be invited to become members of the Augusta National Club- yes, ..this is currently against the club's policy.

I don't believe it's official club policy - just an "understanding." But whatever... the fact is that women play at the course fairly frequently. Wives, guests, etc.

they are not long enough and don't have the stamina to compete over 4 rounds.

Are you just trying to get more negative reputation? Or just being a dope on purpose? Or maybe you're sad r7 425 has left and you're just trying to fill in the hole he's left behind?

It works the other way, should men be allowed to enter womens' tournaments?

No, that analogy doesn't "work the other way."

apart from the majors, i am sure the ladies play just 3 rounds per tournament.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzt. Wrong. And gee, it would have been so hard for you to have checked that, too...

but you should not get negative reputation for speaking the truth. Apart from some of the top flight ladies players, the ladies are just not long enough to play in Men tournaments. Someone in this thread said that Ochoa was in the top 120 in driving distance if her stats were related to the mens figures, and she is the longest on the LPGA. Where would that leave the rest of them?...struggling to make the carry/hit the fairways. I don't know why men and women need to be equal- we should just accept the differences. We have different biological and physiological make ups and our differences should be recognised and celebrated!

Okay, when you start speaking the truth, let us know.

You've not gotten negative reputation for these recent posts. I can't promise you won't, but frankly, I'm considering putting you in the penalty box anyway. You're not attempting in any way to turn your reputation around - you seem to have simply embraced it and turned up the lame 'tude.

Some thought Zach Johnson wouldn't win at Augusta. Or that Corey Pavin was done winning, too.

Where would that leave the rest of them?

Gee, and I thought the question had the word "ever" in the title, and wasn't confined to "just this year." Silly me, always misreading things like that...

I think if a lady can honestly compete at the men's golf event she is entering, than by all means she deserves to be there. But for everytime a woman competes at a men's event and does not even make the cut, then I feel she is yet again setting back the great sport of women's golf.

Ladies competing in Men's golf is a commodity, and at present the ladies can not compete with the men, Michelle Wie was destined to be the ladies answer to men's golf, but look how that turned out?

Out of interest why could men not compete in women's events if the other way round was in effect? A man winning a women's event easily would be as ridiculas as a women missing the cut in a men's event easily, would it not?

I am not against women playing on the men's tour, because lets be honest there is nothing to be 'against' but the whole idea is more commercial than 'can women compete against the men?'.

Someday there may be a women who manages to earn her way in. If you had said win the Masters I would have said never. Still pretty remote, unless genetic engineering becomes legal.

You sound like a guidance counselor.

I don't want to see a guy play in the Women's Open and I don't want to see a chick struggle around Augusta. Besides, haven't we already established, for the time being, that the women can't keep up with the men. Anika and Michielle both tried and couldn't make the cuts. What makes anyone think they belong in a major. Anika did ok in the Skins Game but that's a little different format.

My personal feeling is this.

Augusta should allow a woman to play if she earns her way in through the normal channels, otherwise they shouldn't change their policies in order to allow them in.

The alternative would be to allow a women's major there, which I wouldn't really be opposed to. The Indy 500 used to be strictly a one race track, now they have allowed NASCAR and Formula One to run there. I don't think it has detracted from the tradition or lore at all.

Just my opinion.
