So it will be quite some time before my game warrants a pro v1. If ever. I just can't see spending that much on something there is good chance of me losing either in jungle like rough or a waterhazard.

I've have really liked playing with my John Daly Roaring Distance Extremes (Dunlop). For the past two years I grabbed them up every time they went on sale for $9.99 for 18 @ Big Five but apparently I should have bought the whole stock, because it appears they have been discontinued

I bought some Loco Motions recently, which are made by Dunlop as well, but surprisingly (for a guy who can't appreciate the beauty of a pro v1) they just don't feel as good or seem to play as well as my John Daly's.

What are the best CHEAP balls in your opinion?

pinnacle golds! i use those sometimes, and also the pinnacle long drive. i like those for some wierd reason, probably a sentimental thing just because i used to use them all the time.

What's the word on RAM Tour SD's?

They seem to have taken the spot on the Big 5 shelves that used to be reserved for the John Daly's

You know, I found a Pinnacle Gold Distance at a shag range I go to and I really liked it. But they are around $30+ new for 15... I'm looking for balls who's per unit price is measured in cents rather than dollars

Hmm well cheap is a relative term but I will assume you are looking for something UNDER 20 bucks a dozen.....

I like the Maxfli Black Max Distance they are 19.99 a doz but are on sale quite frequently at Dicks - 2 dozen for 19.99

Also I saw that Golfsmith has Precept Laddie Extreme - 2 dozen for 19.99

Also I have heard great things about the newer Top Flight balls. D2. They are getting some great reviews and are under 20 bucks for a 15 pack. I have not played them myself though.

I used the play the Taylor Made Noodle and I liked that ball it has a good feel, and good distance. under 20bucks/doz.

I'm cheap, but vain... and like the feeling of popping open a new sleeve every few rounds Seriously, do RAM golf balls suck? because $10.99 for 18 is calling my name.

Well I have never played them, but the thing is I dont know of anyone else who has either. So in my mind that means that can't be all that great. But who knows for 10.99 its not like a big investment.

My playing partner often plays the Laddie extreme, which he buys from a variety of sources for $19.95 per 24 balls. Now this fellow plays to a 6 handicap in the summer. To me, that's a pretty good endorsement for that ball.

I should be that frugal, although I'm not, prefering the new TaylorMade Burners, at 19.95 per dozen. There is an interesting interview with TaylorMade's Senior Director of Research and Development for Golf Balls, Dean Snell on the Golf WRX website.

Without a doubt the best ball for the money....

Nice, larlev! Thanks. I just ordered two double 15 packs! I'd give you some rep, but apparently I've given out too much in the past 24 hours.

What's nice is they sometimes have them on-sale for $14.98....

You made a wise choice, let me know how you like them....

Im gonna have to say that if you're handicap is high, does it really matter what ball you're using? When i started, I just bought whatever worked. After three years of playing have i just started to look into balls. Last year i played the Top Flite D2 for $15 for 15, and they did just fine (they're actually really good balls). This year, i'm trying out the Bridgestone e5/e6 series. If you're a high handicapper, then I would concentrate more on finding your swing than finding the right company's imprint on the ball. Go to your local golf store and just purchase something for $10-$15 max. You'll end up losing them anyways...i did!

You are 100% correct........That's the purpose of this thread...isn't it?

...that's why we play balls that are $20 and you get 30 of them beauties

A great, cheap ball is the Noodle Long and Soft. It's $4.99 for a dozen and they don't scuff, easily. (My experience)

They are actually slightly better than okay around the greens and have a nice roll on putts.

The best bang for your buck.

Top Flite Strata TL Tour. You can probably pick them up off of ebay for around 10 dollars a dozen. Its a multi layer ball with a urethane cover, you wont find a better ball for that price.

I know you've already ordered some... but I just have to mention... Maxfli Fires are 12.99 a dozen at most stores right now. They are very long, 3-piece, spin pretty good, and bery durable. One of the best balls I've played for the price.

    • You all are right, its not that big of an issue, I'll leave it alone, especially after looking at that picture of Tigers beat up putter. But I also noticed the small circle worn on the sweet-spot where he hits it every time, I definitely don't have one of those. Thanks for the replies
    • Committing to one brand of ball this year - Snell MTB Prime X, the 5 doz. pack. Like how they perform for me. At $18/doz., can live with cover scuffing. Iron regripping with GolfPrice MCC+4 Teams std. in red/navy. May be retiring Odyssey Dual Force after 30 yrs. Seems like I can't get it to the hole anymore. Kind of light and has lots of toe hang. My reg. group's hounding finally wore me down.    From Callaway preowned - trying out the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K in double wide (less toe hang) and triple wide (face balanced). Both also noticeably heavier...we shall see.
    • WOW, it looks like he has been hitting stones with that putter to put all of those nicks into it.  I can't see how a ball would cause many those dings.
    • I'm fighting a knee as well as a foot so I "Feel your pain".  Luckily for me the PT is helping at this time and I am hoping knee surgery is not imminent.  Best of luck to you.
