Sent my driver back to Callaway to have it repaired (replaced). In the meantime I have played two rounds without it and have used my X hot 3 wood. My shots have been in the same neighborhood as what I was hitting my driver and my misses don't go nearly as far offline. Considering not putting the driver back in if this keeps up. I've only had the 3 wood a couple of weeks. It should only get better.

Sounds good. It's nice to have a reliable three wood off the tee.

LOL, that's the opposite to me.
If i take 3 wood off the tee, it is only going left, right, topped or fat.
Lucky you.

My 3 wood off a tee is essentially a driver. It goes maybe 10 yards shorter, if that. The only reason I use a driver, is that it is way more forgiving on miss hits. This allows me to swing a lot faster without the worry of completely messing it up.

I could see where that would happen with the right three wood.

5 wood = a consistent down the middle 220 yards.

driver is new, so getting used to it, but I see it getting back to the same as the R7 460... a consistent 270 yards, but not a consistent line... I'll get there though

If its a tight fairway, I'll play the 5 wood so I know I have a 2nd shot. If its more open, I'll take the driver for a gamble.

Love, love, love my X-Hot. And I couldn't agree more with you about using it as a back-up driver. Last weekend, my driver just didn't feel right to me, so I used the X-Hot instead. Sure, I may give up a few yards (although not that much), but being in the fairway makes a huge difference. Love the sound too.

Just curious, what flex shaft do you have in yours? What's your swingspeed with the driver and tempo? e

I have the Fujikura Bonzai Stiff. My swingspeed is 95-105. Tempo? Hard to say. When I have a "patient" swing (complete my backswing), all is good.

That's good to hear. I ended up going with regular flex in the Banzai shaft and my swing speed with the driver tops out at 95 mph with a medium tempo. The shaft seems to play on the stiff side (the regular flex CPMs at 279 and the stiff at 287).

Great, great club.

Saw your Sig. I had the Titleist in my bag a few weeks ago. Liked it when I hit it well. Felt like a pured persimmon. Unfortunately I was very inconsistent with it. I'm smoking this X hot off the tee and from the deck. Find a club that you can do both and you'll be so happy you did. I couldn't make the Titleist 906 that club. I've hit a Burner on the launch monitor only. Did pretty well. Worth considering.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
