Where did you have the shaft done?  And did you also buy a second tip so your old shaft is still usable if you so desired?

Roger Dunns in Santa Ana.  Naz on a second tip.  Figured if I don't like it... Then I'll trade all this 'stuff' in and get a real gamer next season when the next big thing hits the market.

Traded my entire golf bag for $420 in store credit. Used it to buy tennis gear. Fu©# golf.

2 boxes of TF Gamers.  At this point of the season the ball is flying shorter so the lower compression works and we're playing links style approaches anyway (even the spinniest tour ball will not stick).

Nothing.

I walked around looking at clubs and balls, grabbed a few drivers to test out in the range area, and left.  I even had a $30 cash card and a "$20 of $100 purchase" coupon.  Subconciously I must know that I really don't need any more golf stuff, but I still keeping looking for something anyway.  z4_blink.gif

2.) Re-shafted my 54* Vokey wedge which snapped on a tree during my last round.

3.) 2x pairs of Kahuna shorts from Lululemon

4.) 3 dozen Taylormade TP5's (buy 2, get 1 free)

Now I gotta get out on the course!!

So I've been to the range every night this week - since this past Sunday.  And I rarely ever hit my driver at the range.  I just find that I try and swing too hard and end up hitting shitty shots.  So I rarely ever even pull the driver out.

Well I have a tournament this Saturday... And I had my R11 re-shafted this past weekend at Roger Dunn.  So I was thinking... I'm striping the ball right now.  I should at least hit this new driver a handful of times to get a feel for it before I put it in the bag for Saturdays round....

First shot... Hit a power fade (typical ball flight is a push draw) and it was smashed... So I tweaked my grip and setup just slightly after the first ball to see if I could hit the push draw.

Second shot... Striped it - straight ball flight.

Third shot... Hit it a little high off the face - and a baby fade - but still nice distance.

Fourth shot... Push draw - best shot yet... Beaut.

Fifth shot.... W.T.F.... The club head flew off as soon as I made impact.

I had to go into the range and ask them to shut it down for a second so I could run out and grab the club head which was about 75yds down range.... d1_bigcry.gif

Now I have to go get it checked out... And see what the hell they did wrong.  I looks like it snapped right at the insert which fits into the kneck of the hosel/clubhead.  Like the insert that resides inside the shaft. The shaft looks 'Ok' to my eye.  But not sure if they can re-use it or not?  Thankfully the R11 head is fine.

This was the first time I've ever had that happen to me on a driver... Kind of pissed considering I spent some coin to get it done - and only got to hit it 4 1/2 times!!! LOL

A new hitting mat, wore out the old one in 4 weeks with less than 12,000 hits on it. This one seems more sturdy, there are no signs of flaking on the bottom.

A set of HX Diablo Golf Ball

i bought a new hat (nice titleist one that fit well, even though i don't use any of their products. i must be a poser), a two pack of weathersof gloves which felt really nice, and a box of gamer v2s.

i've always heard good things about them and i hadn't played in a while so i figured i would use these if i was having a "lost multiple balls by the turn" kind of round. i did have a pretty bad go of it so i got to use them. i didn't see a huge difference in my short game between the v2s and my b330-rxs. there was a difference in spin and stopping distance, but not the kind that you would expect from the price difference. can't really tell you about how they were off the driver because i put that bad boy away after a couple holes. distance was pretty much in line with all my other clubs though.

i don't buy new balls, but if i were a mid-capper looking for an affordable new ball i would easily buy these over any $20/dz. ball i've ever hit and since they're half the price of some upper tier balls you won't get upset when one gets away from you.

Went to Martin's PGA Golf Superstore in Myrtle Beach on the one rainy day of my vacation. Played golf 5 times that week.

Purchased Footjoy Dryjoys Tour (msrp $180) for $47!

Also got a double dozen Wilson Zips for $15.

Gamer V2s.

I'm running out of the Callaway Warbirds my wife bought me for Father's Day, so I want to give these balls a shot. I'm playing in a scramble next week and I'm hoping I don't embarrass myself too badly :) My driver slice has been tamed, so I'm crossing my fingers not too many of these get lost in the woods along my Warbirds.

Golf can be so humbling.

I had my eye on these JPX825 pro irons at a local pro shot near my work, and got the cash to buy it. Then was told that I use a regular shaft for irons. So, I wanted to hit a few more shots to see if that was really the case. Ego rears its ugly head again. Needlessly said I started to swing faster and out of tempo, and in the end couldn't hit anything to save my life. Ended up not buying the Mizunos, for now.

Then I went to Roger Dunn in North Hollywood, after work, and tried out two blade like clubs, hit them high because I was flipping. Bought the cleveland cg tour with REGULAR shafts for a couple hundred dollars, and went back home to hit. I found that I could actually hit them. Slowed down my tempo, and I was able to hit full swings again. Took me 100 half swings to warm up.

I am going back to the pro shop to purchase the Mizunos from him, after I can actually swing properly all the time.

Two lessons learned: listen to your pro; and never fitted for irons after gorging yourself with Mongolian barbecue at lunch.

Golf teaches me stuff.

Bought a dozen Bridgestone B330-RXS golf balls.  I have been using the B330-RX balls and love them, but those were sold out.  I expect I will love the RXS's as well.

a box (15) WIlson SL9000 balls.

Not good enough to spend big money on balls yet.  I get upset knowing that I can loose 10 bucks in balls during one round lol, but at less that a buck a ball.... won't feel too guilty about hitting these Wilsons.

Box of Bridgestone B330 RXS.  Amazing golf balls.
