Hybrids & Lob Wedges

I currently use a 16* Cleveland 1 Iron Hybrid and get around 220yds from it. I really havent gotten completely confident with it yet and I am thinking I might be able to add another 10-20 yds to it.

My lob wedge is lucky to go 20 yards. I can flop with my sand or gap if need be so... I am rapidly coming to the conclusion my lob wedge is useless.

The reason I ask is because if I get rid of my lob I have an opening for a new club. I've been eying the Cleveland XLS 13* 3 wood maybe another hybrid.

Just curious if and what everyone else uses and what kind of distance they get from them. Thanks

I play a similiar setup:


Titleist 905T 9.5* w/bore through Grafalloy Blue S-290-310+
Maltby Troubleout 3 Wood 13* with a 1.5" tipped Aldila NV S Shaft +.5"- 275
Cleveland HALO 16* #1 Hybrid with a tipped s300 steel Shaft - 255

My irons are gapped kinda oddly, i need to have them checked and adjusted.
I play at just under a 2 hdcp.
I really like my bag setup right now. The #1 hybrid allow me to hit 550yd par 5s in two and the 3 wood is extra stiff with a larger grip to take the left side out of play on shorter holes where a driver isnt necessary.

i'll rarely use my lob wedge....maybe 2 times in a round. I use it from about 30 - 60 yards out and if i'm shooting over something like a trap..other than that, I'll use the sand wedge. But the lob wedge could be great out of the sand when you have to get it up really quick and get like 2 feet of roll....

I'm sort of the opposite...I see more value in working on using more tools around the green. I don't hit my Lob wedge for a full shot unless I need to get it up and down quickly. However, for any chipping around the green to tight pins, it is a life saver. I try to work on expanding my short game with another weapon instead of trying to figure out what to hit 225 vs. 235. I just don't have enough of those shots to need more weapons at that distance.
