Go Steelers!

Stupid Cincy had to win today. They have had the benefit of an easy schedule... that's about to get a good bit tougher.

The Eagles are laying an egg this year. Ouch. Same true of New England (though, yes, you never bet against them).

You must be talking about the other Manning... and the Colts

Oh, yeah, I wasn't paying attention and as a Steelers fan, I always immediately think AFC. You know, where the real football teams play.

ditto..F U D G E!

Well who are you rooting for?

Speaking of Fudge... the Packers lost to my Steelers and their backup QB. Not that he did anything at all... 17 points off turnovers sure helps, especially when one of them was after a pass interference call that gave GB the ball at the 3 and a first down... and Favre fumbled on 3rd and goal and Polamalu returned it the other way for a TD. Steelers have sucked at third down, on both sides of the ball, lately.

How bout them Seahawks? 6-2 so far... they racked up another win after their bye week... the first win after a bye since Holmgren has been the coach (ouch). Anyway, this is a positive team, the believe they are going to win and it shows. Plus, Shawn Alexander is a TD machine... he's got the right attitude out there and is posting some great numbers.

I'd love to see them win the whole shebang... Seattle fans NEED it!!!

Tough to care about a football team - any football team - in the NFC, isn't it?

Maybe we can get into it more on Friday in the Podcast...

Yeah, anything on the west coast tends to be an afterthought. Not many teams are taken seriously out here, unless you're the 49ers or the Lakers. Thankfully they suck right now . Hopefully the Seahawks can assert themselves this year.

Well who are you rooting for?

don't beat up on Packers, with 2 top receivers and 3 (!!!) top running backs done for the season it's no wonder, that Favre is trying to win every game by himself (he had these tendencies even with the full team

). They're done.

Their problem is, that S.A. is their ONLY TD machine... take him out and not much left - same as the Chargers withouth L.T. 2... I expect the "whole schabang" to be won by a team, which has more to offer - Indy with their passing game AND Edge, Pittsburgh with their running game AND Big Ben... maybe even my beloved Giants with their Tiki / Jacobs rb combo and Plaxico / Shockey receiving... Indy has the edge with very, very good defense on top of very, very good offense. Pitts in close second IMHO... but don't forget the Falcons with pretty good combo on their own. Then you have the Cowboys, which with Julius healthy can beat anybody... Looks like it will be a very exciting 1/2 half of the season!

I don't think the Indy defense is as good as it's chalked up to be.

For that matter, so long as Cowher is the head coach in Pittsburgh and so long as Whisenhunt and LeBeau call games like they have been doing this year, the Steelers may not even make another AFC Championship game let alone a Super Bowl. In other words, the Steelers would be very, very, very lucky to ever win a Super Bowl with Cowher as the head coach. The Cowboys are about the only team I think may have a chance of beating any of the top six teams in the AFC come Super Bowl time.

I can't believe I missed out on this topic all this time. I'll be the one to bite the bullet for my team.

How about them Ravens? Oh yeah, they are 2-6. I've been completely disgusted with the lack of production from the QB position for the 10th straight year it seems. The Ravens need to lose every game from here on out and draft Matt Leinart. Then we can move on from there. :)

The defense isn't dominant anymore either. That was the bread and butter during the glory years, but now they play soft. And with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed banged up a little, it can only get worse.

Is anyone else glad TO isn't playing for the rest of the season? I was an Eagles fan before he arrived, and I have completely quit cheering for them because of him. I think he is the most worthless athlete in all of sports. I feel that strongly about him. It's almost a hatred. I am glad he wont' be anywhere near a field this season. I hope nobody picks him up next year as well. The Ravens will probably try to get him again. :/

I haven't been into the NFL much this season, probably because my Ravens have stunk it up so badly.

I am cheering for the Colts, however, to win it all. I have been a Peyton fan since he played at Tennessee, and I hope to see him finally win the big one. Although I do agree with Erik that their defense isn't quite as good as it's being chalked up to be.

I think it's more than the quarterback position. You need a running back (or two), you need some wide receivers, and your defense is now old. And Bilick is a dumbass.

I honestly hope he's done for good. The Steelers are NEVER involved in controversy like this, and that's one of the things I like about 'em. Very few teams have avoided BS like this crap (particularly while winning... Arizona may have avoided it, but then again, they could probably detonate the stadium and people wouldn't notice until the next home game...).

We shall see. Ben will go against 'em with three or four running backs that could all switch to about 10 different teams and be the starting RB. It may be a high-scoring game the way the Steeler D has been (non-existent) lately.

Except for 3rd down conversion allowed % they're in top 10 in every defensive category, most of them top 5, being No 1 in sacks. Give the credit where credit due, they've a legit shot at going undefeated through the season...

until they meet young Manning in the superbowl !

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
    • Do you have examples of exceptional scores versus their established handicap indexes?
    • Day 539, April 23, 2024 Mirror work once again. When I get back to swings, I'll just do it A. LOT.
    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
