So I am going to Golfsmith this afternoon to get a Ping G10 and have it fitted. Any comments or concerns with Golfsmith or the driver choice? I am going to try out a few others while I am there but I think I have finally made up my mind. Maybe.

Make sure you get on the swing analysis machine. Just because you want that driver, doesn't mean it's spec'd to you.

I went in for that driver and it didn't do the magic for me. So I ended up with something that is fit to my swing.

It's pretty amazing if you get someone who knows what they're talking about.

When getting fit, the best thing is to go in with a very open mind. Try some different clubs, then start with different shafts. Let the launch monitor stats help direct you to the club that best fits your swing. Enjoy the process if is fun and quite educational.

But but.... its spensive.... Just Kidding but I am looking for something a little more forgiving for now. I can always steal the FT-I I bought my dad if I need to

Are fittings free with purchase? Also, since is it okay that my shots hook and slice and aren't consistent for the swing analysis?

Well, I spent like an hour there getting fitted. Probably would have only taken like 10 if I was more consistant. Ended up with the Ping G10 10.5 Regular Shaft... might go back and get the high launch if I think I need it.

How much do they charge for that.

All this fitting talk has me curious. Maybe curious enough to part with some cash.

Well it was free, but they just look at your swing and try different shafts and you can try different grips, etc. You have to pay for the equipment if you get a different shaft or grip than the club normally comes with.

Congrats on the new stick.

Keep us posted on how it works out for you.

I test hit some G10's earlier this week and was smitten. The 10.5 really appeals to me.

Yeah I really liked the 10.5 and went ahead and got it but after a while at the range I am going to go back and get the V2 HL because I had low ball flight.

What part of town are you in?

I wound up getting my Ping's from: Golf Driving Range Of Texas 1101 N Bowman Springs Rd Kennedale, TX 76060 817-572-3120 Bob is who I dealt with. He's a retired Ping tour pro, and the Ping clubfitter of the year 3 times. He's an amazing fellow, and really spent a lot of time with me, and made sure that I got the right clubs (I got 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, UW, SW)

In my Sasquatch Tour Bag:

Driver - G10 10.5°: UST Pro Vorce V2 Shaft, Regular flex

    • This is pretty much how I look at it.  I understand there are times when the piece of mind has value. I think over the long haul I'm money ahead by never buying the extended warrantee. Hell, What do I know? I went to Ch!cago PubIic SchooIs.

    • On my car I got the extended power train warranty. I do read the fine print most of the time. Though at now 37, my eyes aren’t what they were 10 years ago.    The problem with most of these extended warranties on electronics and appliances is you don’t register the warranty with the place you buy the warranty from, which I’ve always found strange. Unless it’s GameStop then you know Alina drops her Switch in the next two years and the screen cracks they’ll replace it. No questions asked.    You buy a slow cooker at Walmart for $50 and the extended warranty is say $6, you have to go through a third party to register your product for the warranty, and it’s pretty damn annoying. Target is the same way. Anything you buy the extended protection on you have to go through a third party.    Why do retailers go through a “broker” for warranties? Because they don’t wanna deal with it? They make me talk to someone from another country, that I can barely understand, when I need my warranty fulfilled.   Sorry for the rant.
    • You may be able to find a regular flex Blueboard on the second hand market. I’m little more than half your age so I swing a shaft that launches pretty low so I don’t have a lot of experience with Regular flex (other than when I try to hit it I miss way to the left).    There are other shafts, such as the newer Ping Alta that I’ve heard good things about. And one that no one talks about. The Jupiter shaft. You can get this shaft for a $100 with a grip and your Ping adapter installed. I was talking to the golf manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods here and he has one in his driver and has nothing but good things to say about it. I thought about getting one for my Paradym Triple Diamond to play it a little shorter, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
