Is ths Cost of a round of Golf too High? I would like some opinions. Personally, I say yes, it is way too high. Unless you can get out during the week for some deals. I love to play, but I can't afford to play as much as I want ! The demand is there so, courses can charge ad hoc.. ..oh well.

Eventually, I'll get the hint and stop advertising, which is against the rules.

Course expenses are a ton, it takes money to run a golf course, they have to charge high. It all depends where you live, Where I live it isn't expensive at all. You can play an amazing course for $60/Person. We have great rates.

Where I live there are 12 + courses within 10 miles. The competition seems to keep the rates pretty reasonable. $35 for 18 holes at a nice course is pretty reasonable I think. Dent has a good point: courses have alot of expenses. The course where I am a member is hurting big time.

I think sometimes we think the expense to operate a course is higher than it is. Case in point, I love to play a little public near me, a short 9 holes, but great little course. During the week it is $8 to play 9 holes. Down the road at the big 27 hole place with no personality it is $18 for 9, and there are plenty of places that are more. The cheap place has upkeep costs just like the big ones, yet they are 60% cheaper.

the cost of golf is way too high down here. A medium shape course will cost over 60 bucks on the weekends. A good-great shape course could go all the way up to 200 bucks.
So I resort to playing the mediocre courses at twilight in the middle of the week, for around 40 big ones.

Our cost here is about in the middle. I figured it out one time that if you play more than 20 times then you should have bought a membership. I paid $375 for my membership.

I agree, most good Southern California courses are pretty pricey... then again everything's too expensive here, haha.

This year I bought the OC Golf Trail card for $90 - it gives you 30% discounts 4 times at 7 different nice courses, plus one coupon for a 50% off round. It pays for itself after only a few rounds. I plan to use the 50% off round at Monarch Beach, during the week, to bring their $175 weekday fee down to $87.50. Pretty good deal for a course that charges $225 on the weekends!

In greater Las Vegas they are overpriced, but then again. So is anything outside of the casino buildings.

I live about 15 minutes away from the strip in the "burbs" and my local courses are average about $50-$65 per round for residents. Which isn't bad, plus I like to play twighlight so that cuts it about half.

Northeast Ohio has more inexpensive ($15-$30 for 18) public courses than I can count, and our share of more expensive very nice courses too.

The course I'm playing this year ran a special around the holidays last year, $295 unlimited golf 2008. Best deal around.

It's extremely expensive IMO, so thats why I work at a golf course so I can play for free. I'm sure it's extremely expensive to keep a golf course maintained etc though.

i think its too expensive if people say that $60 is a good price. i cant afford to pay over 20$ for only 9 holes because im only 16. the place i usually go to is i think a decent golf course. everything is maintained nicely, but there arent any water hazards or bunkers. for only $11 for 9 holes on the weeend, i cant complain.

I live in the upstate of SC where there are tons of courses that have scheap prices. the otherday I payed $19 to walk 18. 2 weeks ago I payed 33 to ride 18 on a weekend. around here there are plenty of cheap courses that are in nice condition. I cant complain.
