Scotman by geneology Donald trump of Trump National Golf Club in Westchester, New York, Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey; Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, California; Trump International Golf Club, Palm Beach County, Florida, Trump International Golf Club on the island of Canouan in the Grenadines, the world-renowned Fifth Avenue skyscraper, Trump Tower and the luxury residential buildings at Trump Parc, Trump Palace (the tallest building on the East Side of Manhattan), Trump Plaza, 610 Park Avenue, Trump World Tower, the soon-to-be converted Delmonico Hotel at Park Avenue and 59th Street (Trump Park Avenue), Trump International Hotel and Tower a 52 story, mixed–use super-luxury hotel and residential building at the crossroads of Manhattan’s West Side, on Central Park West at Columbus Circle, The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino on the Boardwalk, the Trump Marina Casino Resort in the Marina District and The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, home of one of the world’s largest casinos and one of the most luxurious casino-hotels ever built and The Trump Casino, located just outside of Chicago in Indiana, is the first casino riverboat among Mr. Trump’s holdings and also DONALD TRUMP cologne is having his efforts blocked by locals to build the "world's greatest golf course", Trump International Golf Links. Donald Trump, also a widely read author, latest book, "Think Big and Kick Ass in Business and Life" and television star of "The Apprentice" promises to build a better course "than the Royal & Ancient at St. Andrews, Turnberry, Carnoustie or Troon".

Under cross-examination by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Donald Trump who had just landed in his private jet "The Donald's" a Boeing 727 drew applause from the audience when he said he knew more about the environment than his consultants did.

It seems sad that Scotland where golf was born and originated is lagging behind in producing the world's best golf courses and when someone like Donald Trump wants to change that and see that Scotland has the world's best golf course, local cabbage farmers block his efforts.

Not having played either a Donald Trump course or any course outside of Washington State or New Mexico I can emphatically say given the choice of playing either Trump's finest resort courses or Scotland finest and off the beaten path ones Scotland would win hands down. There has to be more to the story than just the making of the golf course. My guess is the resort issue has something to do with it. Links would help some as well.

why would you want to go all the way to scotland and play a scottish course when you could play any cheap summer burned-out hardpan bump and run course in podunk, iowa or pickerington, ohio?

the donald is going to bring state of the art irrigation to this course with soft greens the way golf has come to be meant to be played. scotland has just not kept up with evolution of the game both in course maintenance as well as time-share condos and hotels that trump will be building. trump international golf links

When I fly over to Scotland, I am not going to waste any days over there playing a Trump course. Give me one of those historic gems over a neuvo riche track any day.

Scotts take pride in the integrity of the game. They probably didn't want a course that promoted cheating. Trump is often compared to Bill Clinton as one of the biggest cheats in the game. Ask a caddy at one of his courses how many balls Trump has ever lost at that place, and the answer will always be zero. He is the only man in all of golf not to have lost a ball in over 5 years.

of scottish descent myself, i take great pride in scottish heritage and its invention of the game of golf but this will be amongst the great scottish calamities if this development project does not go forth, comparable to those scottish sheep herders who got happy with the herd and introduced syphilus to the world

Golf in Scotland is about history and the it is certainly not about the luxurious hotels and 950 homes, 36 golf villas and 500 upscale homes that Trump plans to subsidise the cost of his Scottish golfing dream. You cannot simply get a famous designer and a bucket of money and create 'the greatest golf course in the world'. That tag can only be earned over a stretch of time combined with the above things if he is lucky. It is also incredibly unlikely that The Open Championship would ever be held at a course like this and without that seal it is difficult to see it reaching the lofty heights of Trump's pre-emptory testimonials.

By all means build a golf course in Scotland and make it a good course, but trying to export a business structure with all the accommodation etc on the course is not the Scottish way and I would be surprised to see it approved. If you want to try the commercial line then do what Bandon Dunes has done and find some US coast line and push that sand around to make a beautiful course. I don't think it is right to do that in Scotland where you have to push around the locals and the wildlife as much as the sanddunes themselves. Golf to scottish people is different to what an American view of golf is. Both are equally important in this great game and both have their places. Mixing the two will be difficult to do.

Under cross-examination by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Donald Trump who had just landed in his private jet "The Donald's" a Boeing 727 drew applause from the audience when he said he knew more about the environment than his consultants did.

The article I read stated that Trump 'drew snickers' from the crowd having made this comment and he further admitted that he had not even read the environmental reports he had commissioned...

I know the area well. I can't begin to describe how wrong your assumptions are - with reference to the golf, that is, not your other puerile assertion.

Trump's ideas would radically alter the surrounding environment for the benfit on no-one except those poised to make money out of the ruination of a beautiful natural area. How would you feel if a new Disneyworld was built in the Grand Canyon? This is similar.

the course trump builds will earn it, everything he does brings excellence to it. he even decided to bottle wattle and now its "the best water in the world". have you seen his kid barron? he's so cute! or evanka? what a hottie! he even makes the best kids in the world. he even made a vodka that is now "the best vodka in the world". so i think scotland should let donald, who is a scot himself through his mother, let him build them the best golf course in the world.

Best course in the world my arse. It would be another over-hyped cookie-cutter trumpized pos for the rich and famous. Put down the bong.

not having time to read whole thread but.

to claim he is going to construct the best course in the world is arrogant as only an American can be.

the major problem most locals have is the fact that he plans to build approx 500 houses and a couple of hotels on what is basically a nature reserve a site of special scientific interest.

if he only wanted to build the course i am sure he would be welcomed but what he plans would destroy the rural lifestyle that the locals have chosen and enjoy as such he shouldnt be allowed to go ahead with these buildings.

just because he has lots of money should not give him any special opportunity, its a lovely part of my country and i dont want some money grabbing american to bulldoze a significant part of it so he can increase his bank balance - best course in the world - unlikely - best return in the world very possibly

I'm from Aberdeen and hope to move back there soon.

The area needs a major economic boost and this is a fabolous opportunity. It is a national embarrassment and disgraceful that short sited Aberdeenshire councillors initially blocked this. I whole heartedly support the development and believe that Trump will build a superb course and bring a miriad of economic benefits to an essentially rural area.

There is a small environmental lobby acting against this course in the mistaken belief that they are protecting an endangered area of coastline. This is not the case, Trump's development would support the coastline and the wildlife of the area.

All right minded Scottish people and particulalry those in the Aberdeen area have rallied behind this proposal. Aberdeen is a fantastic area to visit and anyone looking to play some great Scottish courses would do well to visit the area, Royal Aberdeen, Murcar, Cruden Bay and Nairn are all first rate and hopefully a modern development by Mr Trump will bring increased tourism and opportunity to my home town.

(For info a number of superb modern links courses have recently been built in Scotland and both these and the traditional links courses mentioned by many others mean Scotland remains one of the best golfing holidays in the world.)

great article, clears the air a bit to let people know what a great guy trump is and the local support for his golf course except for the few environmentalists who don't see how donald is going to help the environment and how he is an environmentalist in the truest sense of the word

if there is any william wallace here, its donald trump who is trying to save the game of golf in scotland but he's too modest to be running around in a kilt trump is quite passionate about this course and will not give it up for the dear love of his mother who was born in scotland

i normally find your comments perceptive or amusing or both but that is unpleasant, insulting and inaccurate.
